F6’d MV but just making it known here as this is pretty game breaking against rogues and especially druids.
You can MV a rogue, they stealth and you can DoT them if they are within 36 yards while stealthed. They can only break MV by vanishing even if they are already stealthed.
Druids on the other hand AFAIK cant do anything about this if they are MV’d before they stealth.
This game is NOT going to be anywhere near ready to ship in 2 weeks. Lol
edit After consulting with some knowledgeable priests this is definitely a major bug.
Entering Stealth does not remove buffs/debuffs afaik unless it’s changed in Forever and going stealth drops all effects. I haven’t seen that behaviour, tho.
Doing that in a duel is bad form, I would say. If there’s video then there is no “I believe” as you would hear it, see it and have an indicator you are being watched. So it either happened in that duel or it didn’t there’s little ambiguity to effects people toss on you. Unless I’m not recalling correctly, it’s pretty obvious when someone MVs you.
I don’t know if they changed how it works in Forever so someone can correct me who knows.
I have never seen a priest DoT someone thats IN stealth 30+ yards away in classic before ever. Lol Thats what im saying is the bug. I dont agree MV should stay on if someone stealths IMO, but i should not be able to dot them unless if they are within my characters melee range of seeing the stealthed individual naturally.
In this current state, this will absolutely be abused in wpvp and bgs by any priest who knows about it that sees a rogue or druid.
Mind Vision = See what the target sees through their mind. So it should act like a Hunters Mark so that THAT priest can still see you while Mind Vision is channeling. You as the Stealthier have the option to stay out of range of the Priest or risk getting attacked if you get close enough.
It is and should remain a gameplay intended feature.
So why are Hunters allowed to Mark targets before they go into stealth and still see them?
Its the same logic, they used an ability that bypasses the stealth mechanic only for that player.
I honestly don’t see the difference. However rogues handle being marked by the Hunter, they can do the same facing a priest and even better because the priest is stationary. You can chose to walk away or take a risk just as you would with a hunter.
Im talking about being able to cast a DoT on someone while im mind visioning them while they are stealthed out of my characters personal sight.
Normally once you drop Mind Vison, you are not able to cast any spells on them if they are stealthed outside of your character melee visible range. Priests are currently able to do that, that is a bug.
And once the Hunter marks another person or the timer runs out, the hunter can no longer see the Stealthier.
Its still the same logic. Get close to a hunter and he can shoot you. Get close to the Priest and he can dot you.
Just because you can break Mind Vision channel by putting up a DoT on the target as you break Mind Vision does not matter. Hunter can shoot you or send pet after you without having to stay stationary.
Hunter Fantasy = Tracking things and Hunting them down.
Priest Fantasy = Mind Manipulation and using Mind Vision is apart of that. The Priest sees what YOU see through YOUR mind.
If you don’t want to get Mind Vision or Hunter’s mark by the Priest or Hunter, Show up in stealth, not out of it.
Did find a previous post years ago and it seems its intended…It doesn’t seem natural at all. I’m surprised they allow it considering MV is 100 yard range. Yikes. But MV does stop mana regeneration too. So eh it has a little drawback.
So what you are saying is that if a priest casts mind vision on a rogue and the rogue stealths, the priest can then cast a dot on the rogue despite channeling mind vision.
I had to google this one because it never happened to me at all in Vanilla or Classic and I never discovered it on my shadow priest.
It turns out this is a known bug within the community which I assume will be patched soon.
The intended part is that the priest casts mind vision and the rogue stealths. The priest can still see through the rogues eyes because entering normal stealth does not dispel Mind Vision (or hunter’s mark as pointed out or any other debuffs)
The bugged part is that the game design dictates that stealth should make a player untargetable by direct single target spells unless the caster has enough stealth detection to naturally spot them.
So when the channel on mind vision breaks to cast the dot it should revert to ‘I don’t have a target’ unless they are right infront of you and you can see them in stealth.
Thanks for pointing this out and I guess the devs will fix it along the way.
You can Mind Control an enemy and then you can break Mind Control by casting a spell on them like a buff since they are a “Friendly / Help” target while under the effects of Mind control.
You can cast instant cast spells while channeling to break the channel. This is not a new discovery. It is intended gameplay feature.
The reason why this seems off and odd is because its not a often used tactic as that situation is VERY specific and a lot of things need to line up for it to happen.
The Priest needs to be aware of this tactic and the rogue needs to be unsheathed and the priest is okay with allowing the rogue come near him while he is locked down channeling and slowing his mana regen if he is in need of it.
I found a post years ago on here where they also thought it was a bug but has apparently been in the game all along. Idk does it feel wrong, yes. But its apparently been in the game the entire time in classic era.
Ok I could be wrong as I never played priest enough to find out, but I think the difference with dotting a mob during mind vision is that you can still see it hence can break the channel and cast the spell. With a rogue far enough away they would be invisible.
Would be interesting to test this out on the stealth mobs in STV like get far away enough so they go out of your detection range and see if they can be dotted.
I’m not worried if it is intended as it sounds incredibly niche, maybe in a duel there’s a case but then you could just enter stealth before issuing the challenge.
Maybe I’m overlooking things but have been playing many rogues since 2004 and have never come across it.
Same can be said about hunters with Hunters Mark. Once the Hunters mark runs out of time and to far to re apply it, then the Hunter can no longer see the Stealth target.
With Mind Vision, you can just keep reapplying it before it runs out but your mana I think would eventually run out since regen is paused completely I think.
Ill tell you this, if Mind Vision was NOT a channel, you would be darn certain Priests would be using that all the time just like a Hunters Mark. So be thankful that the limitation is the channel and work around it.
I didn’t know that part I can see how it could be OP in very specific situations. But tbf if a priest spots me out of stealth in a PvP environment they are going to Shadow Word: Pain me right? The main place I see this being an issue would be in a duel and the priest mind visions me before it starts then pulls me out of stealth before I get to move. In this case I would just exit the duel and request to not use the cheese and if they do issue it from stealth or walk away.
Or they spot me from a distance out of range of SW: P so mind vision me and wait for me to get closer to dot but at which point I would just sit out of range in stealth /dancing until they oom and then go smoke em haha.
They can’t move while channeling the mind vision spell to chase me so don’t see why it would be a big issue in PvP unless I’m missing something? Capturing BG timed objectives maybe if they are camping them?
I think the most useful situation is when a Rogue opens on the Priest but then runs away for a restealth and is out of range from dots before a restealth or is waiting for dots to drop before going back in stealth and then the Priest can Mind Vision and now you are at a stalemate unless he cancels Mind Vision early or you go back in only for him to dot you as soon as you are within range.
I don’t see much use in BG’s unless you are on voice coms with a friend and direct him to exactly where the rogue is located and then toss an AOE there to unstealth him. But you need to be fast before the rogue acts and you need to be lucky enough to Mind Vision the rogue before he stealths and in a BG, that window is small.
Best idea I think would be for someone to target a Rogue/Druid and then maybe the Priest is far away sitting at a node or flag room etc and you assist your friend and mind vision the rogue and then the friend goes in and catches the rogue out of stealth but that only works if he was out of stealth for enough time to coordinate that tactic.
It requires an extreme amount of setup in a very specific situation which is not much of a payoff for both the Priest and the friend to do compared to just focusing their attention on other things like actually playing the game with you spells and ability and not waste time essentially being AFK as not much difference at that point.
With Mind Vision, you can just keep reapplying it before it runs out but your mana I think would eventually run out since regen is paused completely I think.
In TBC i just tested this on my priest, you can jump it + mana regenerates.
In Forever you cannot jump it and there’s no mana regeneration unless if i have wisdom buffed on me, so Mp5 does seem to still give its mana return while channeling it. But again theres no reapplying it without dropping MV going back to your character to cast it again, so someone stealth just has to wait out the 1st full duration.
