WoW Forever will be WoW Fornever if this bug isn’t fixed. I’ve had several Horde dead to rights who then magically vanished on me and came back shortly after fully recharged and smashed me. This is absurd. The players doing this should be suspended and the bug completely fixed. Either prevent this exploit or remove layer’s altogether. This absolutely destroys PvP.
Suspend the accounts of people who cheat and get rid of the bug.
From my experience, you get a popup on the left side of the screen that gives you a timer before you are automatically moved to a new shard…however, you have the option to activate it at any time.
But the OPs example sounds weird because outside of popup, I dont know how you would move back to your original shard.
Other than grouping, I dont know of any way to force a shard change.
This is inaccurate, they’ve changed it to be unusable in combat.
That being said, layers and sharding are insanely bad and this is just the tail end of the PAID beta, it will pale in comparison to when everyone flood the ONE PVP ruleset on launch for a game that doesn’t even have a box price or barrier to entry.
Gee, if only there were something that would help decrease the flood of players to one ruleset on launch, idk, maybe something like the most requested addition to the game, RPPVP.
But hey, I’d say see you guys on PvP but we all know we won’t, and if we do we’ll never see each other again.
I’m not sure about force swapping but basically it shouldn’t function in combat at all, to avoid people from noping out of PvP they’re losing, as well as to prevent you from using it to survive death in Hardcore when it comes out. It also shouldn’t force move you without the popup but uh… I’ve been layered countless times without a prompt so I don’t think they have it figured it out yet.
Edit the name out or a mod will do it for you, name and shame isn’t allowed on forums (even in cases where the accused is actioned by Blizzard).
Otherwise, like others I’m unsure how it’s possible to layer in and out ‘at demand’, but I definitely feel for you because I’ve experienced intentional layer abuse numerous times during the beta on zone borders.
I don’t think there’s much more you can do than right click report and go from there. But yes, Blizzard absolutely does need to fix this awful layering (sharding, actually, but essentially the same issue, it needs fixed).
It’s not about me shaming anyone, it’s about the truth. He shamed himself when he exploited, so he has no rights as far as I’m concerned. I’ve seen multiple people do this. He should be exposed just as much as the glitch itself. He can’t turn invisible after his vanish is gone and he has hunters mark on, so it’s confirmed that he cheated using layering bugs. If he’d used Preparation to restore his Vanish, I’d have known it because I would have seen the arm raise and smoke effect from vanishing again. Even then, he had fresh poison on him and would have come out. The guy was cheating.
As for how he did it: they get invited to a group and they vanish to their layer. Then they leave the group and come back. He comes back with no mark on him, and fully refreshed - then jumps me while I’m in a Dust Devil cyclone. The guy is as low as they come.
That’s why pointing it out here. I don’t want scammers or broken features being in the game.
It’s still against the forum rules to name people directly for allegedly breaking the rules.
Neither do you here. These are blizzard’s forums and because they moderate it, they set the rules, and the rules say you aren’t allowed to name people in the manor you have.
This isn’t a bug or an exploit, this is intentionally how layering works.
The only way for him to come back to the same layer consistently would be him having 2 different groups.
A while back before the cap raise to 30 there were bored horde killing quest NPCs in Westfall. A bunch of us that were also at the 20 cap flagged and drove them out. After they were killed a few times, they just kept crossing over to Elwynn to layer every time they were getting low. So it was just this dumb back and forth of them running in and running out while we sat at the border and bounced them back over and over. It felt so stupid. The fact that none of the layering problems are fixed yet is concerning.
Yes I do. Does it give your life satisfaction to be a supplicant?
Yes it is. Many people have reported this and talked about it online. It’s a fairly big issue that Blizzard admitted they were working on. Even if they didn’t know it’s an exploit, use your common sense.
Wrong. I’ve joined and left raid groups, only to return to the exact campfire and people who were there before I left. We’ve seen it live on Youtube plenty of times.
Just because you didn’t notice the problem, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. If someone picks a fight, they can’t just walk across a bridge and magically end the conflict just because they’re losing. This completely destroys emersion and a sense of Azeroth being a living breathing place. Before claiming that it’s not an exploit, you might want to research it and apply some basic deductive reasoning. Obviously if people are using it to escape combat by vanishing into thin air, then it’s an exploit.
Let’s just hope they’re working on measures to correct it and prevent further exploitation.
