[Breaking News] Warlock's FEAR is absolutely disgusting

Why does Warlock’s fear not break like other CCs?

There is no way that fear has the same heartbeat as sheep/sap etc.

Just watch today’s tournament: all Sap’s are breaking after 6-7s max, while Fears are pretty much never breaking (even while being attacked)

On top of heartbeat, Warlock’s Fear should have a much higher chance to break on damage, including dots.

You can already spam it, make it at least have a chance to fail sometimes.

Fear needs to be addressed 100%

It needs to have a shorter duration, break on damage and it needs to stop shooting people 60+ Yards in a straight line, it should be max 10 yards from the original location.

I don’t think this is breaking news.

Warlock fear has been crazy good in classic pvp for 22 years. I’ve got a warrior guide on my bookshelf written by Indalamar that says don’t engage with them in a 1v1

Just bc its been that way for 22 years, doesn’t mean it should continue to be that way. Mages were able to AOE farm for 22 years but Blizzard took that away. I think its time fear is addressed.

I’m not arguing for no change, just complaining about the clickbait title.

While I sympathize and agree with the OP’s complaint with respect to PvP, whatever change occurs needs to also factor in PvE.

Some players play both, if it starts breaking because of the warlocks own DoT’s. there goes a major CC from their toolkit.

How about don’t balance the game around a level 30 RMT tournament

or 1v1 in general. just dispel fear and move on

Seems odd. Warrior is probably one of the best classes for dealing with warlock thanks to berserker rage making you fear immune.

Should be balanced separately; I usually dislike that concept but it needs to be fixed for PvP.

i was being sarcastic, of course it’s not breaking news.

just think as any other CC fear should have similar chance to break. thats it.

Goes to show warlock power in pvp.

Usually your best chance is if you got recklessness up which makes you fear immune for the duration.

I uses to keep my glimmering mithril insignia too.

I don’t consider myself some top tier pvper but I did a lot of it over the years. Played warrior, priest, mage, and shaman in pvp. Of those, the only one that doesn’t really have an answer to fear 1v1 is priest. Warrior can just make himself immune or pummel, shaman has earth shock, grounding totem, and tremor totem, and mage has got counterspell and ice block.

Like I get fear is a strong spell, but I really don’t think it’s overpowered. Probably most classes have a way to interrupt it or otherwise deal with it.

The issue is that it’s just spammable, most of the counterplay has a significant cooldown, just hit fear again, problem solved.

Obviously there’s a couple exceptions but having 100% or near 0% counterplay is bad design.

How does it have 0% counterplay? Most classes have counterplay to it.

Most is a stretch, need two dispels or Tremor which is counterable or a warrior.

Plenty of opportunity to be abused with little to no counterplay with the lack of CD, low DR, etc.

It has DR. I do agree they need to fix the distance pathing as you suggested, but imo that’s the only thing they should do.

Right but this is in the context of countering a CS, Ice block, or whatever else, typically when you outplay someone they lose access to the thing you countered at least for a period of time, fear is an exception, on a class that already has an insanely powerful and robust PvP kit

I’m not advocating running the class in to the ground but fear definitely needs to be toned down.

Couldn’t the same thing be said of polymorph, entangling roots, or sap? If they break it you can just do it again with no cooldown.

Polymorph sets you back to full health and roots is just a… root.

Sap can do this but you have to hold back any damage whatsoever and blow a few cool downs to even get back into stealth.
