Here are some valid complaints I’ve seen people have even if they work out all the bugs with some of these things why would they appeal to Classic players then add all of these retail systems into the game I fully understand they are suppose to add new things but it is all just stuff from retail no new ideas or anything even camping was essentially stolen from Turtle WoW or they are reusing assets from Season of Discovery
Even during the announcement it was advertised as Vanilla + for classic players so why do we have all of the things listed below
First and last name we should atleast have the option to pick just 1 name
and not go into your options settings to turn it off have seen some really weird names an I dont even understand the purpose of it or why u cant just have one name it’s always been that way what do you expect us to actually put our real first an last name ?
Layering
Housing
Transmog
WoW token
Barber shop
Cross faction race
Dalaran neutral player city
Skyborne
Gear stats being nerfed and changed after you took the time to go earn them
Having servers down almost every other day
Hosting a Tournament in a Beta kind of doesn’t make sense either when classes are obviously unbalanced some are broken an you have to keep changing talents around an nerfing certain classes or buffing them
They’ve already lied about horizontal progression with gear and items an now they meant the ‘‘world will be the horizontal progression’’ none of it makes any sense other mmos do this just fine
I don’t really have a whole lot of faith in this project I will play it ofc just like everyone else since it’ll be new an probably fun in the beginning but I don’t think it’ll have any real longevity blizzard doesn’t do a good job managing there games and seem to always just shoot themselves in the foot and punish there players
Honestly feel like Season of Discovery was a better introduction to a Classic + then what is now being offered now
Thank you for taking the time to read have a wonderful weekend just wanted other peoples opinions aswell have seen a lot of these things pop up
So… if they were changing and nerfing stats on something on a live game, I could see being salty. We are in a Beta to playtest things so they can update/buff/nerf on the fly. As far as the last names, skyborne, etc, so what. Enjoy the game and just hope the M+ toxic nonsense stays away.
Well, honestly, I’d like to know what’s so bad about using a first and last name, and well, it’s not like you have to use your real name… maybe it’s just to give players more creative freedom? Come up with a title—come on, it’s an RPG, MAN!
I am having fun playing just some valid concerns I’ve seen other people have aswell I know we are in a beta and it’s really to early to tell but just wanted peoples opinions an maybe their own take
Since reputation matters again, I just use the Last name for all of my characters and mix the first names.
Also, I get feedback and there are some things I worry over, but I am generally impressed with everything so far. Blue elves don’t bother me, nor does a Transmog I can turn off. I am just glad that the Azeroth I have been playing in since Alpha seems to be back
Well to be fair maybe i want the name I am using to talk to you on the forums or something like that shouldn’t bother you just like you want a first an last name
Also it was sorta difficult to mail invite and whisper people at first with a first an last name hopefully it’s fixed an won’t be an issue on launch
Because they use one ‘server’ per type of game so it’s gonna be A LOT more people on a server, therefore more chances for names to be taken. I don’t like having 2 names either but surely with a tiny bit of thinking you can understand why they did it ?
Same thing, you don’t want a mega-server with no layering.
What ?
Agree with that but not sure it’s gonna remain as is. Apparently Horde players earning reputation with Kirin Tor was a bug.
You’re playing a beta. Things are meant to be changed. You’re not a player atm you’re a beta tester. It’s very different.
Yeah but it’s a streamer/community publicity stunt that has nothing to do with Blizzard per say.
You can’t forbid them to do it and even though it brought a lot of sweat/RMT in a game that was meant to be “chill” it had the benefit of making players push boundaries and uncover A LOT of bugs. So in a beta environment an argument can be made about sweaters discovering a lot of weird synergy/mechanics that the devs would never have found.
There’s little to no chance of having a real horizontal progression in WoW. The game isn’t meant for it, players are too used to vertical prog and even the devs don’t really know what horizontal prog is when you listen to the podcast. They’ll just try to limit the scaling as much as possible (so much so that gameplay has to suffer cause white hit is too strong). But gear will probably still be better from a tier to the next.
You can expect stat squash at some point I guess.
SoD was amazing. It was a cheap shot with a handful of devs and no dedicated client but at least they let loose and cooked some wonderful class gameplay in a classic setting. Forever feels doubly boring in terms of class design atm, hoping it will improve on release.
What I see setting up WoW Forever for failure–and actually, WoW in general–is the dilution of game populations. The majority of people trying WoW Forever are already WoW players in the other games, or former WoW players like me that came back to see what all the hype is about. Which of course, I decided since I was here to revive my Retail account just to have a look, and found that my old server (Earthen Ring) is utterly dead and empty and really needs a merger. With four games already competing for the same general population of people, and that competition clearly affecting game and server populations, adding a fifth game to the mix means Blizzard isn’t doing itself any favors without a major influx of new players.
Pretty sure it was neutral at first they just changed that yesterday in the update
Dalaran
Members of the Horde are no longer welcome in Dalaran under any circumstances and will be attacked on sight. This does not affect access to the City of Dalaran dungeon, but the Horde questline to obtain the Dalaran Sewer Key no longer grants unrestricted access to the city in the open world.
I truly believe they sabotage their own games on purpose. Retail will literally suffer and die(low pop obviously) if forever was actually good. Now it’s going to be mediocre so they can sell titan next year.
Some of these are fair, but a couple aren’t actually in Forever. There’s no housing, and Blizzard has said there are no plans for a WoW Token or paid boosts. Transmog is opt-in too, so you can turn it off and see everyone’s real gear.
On the fair ones: yeah, layering/sharding is the big one right now, and I agree it needs fixing before launch. Gear and class changes and frequent downtime are kind of expected in a beta though. That’s what it’s for, and it’s better they change things now than after launch.
On horizontal progression, I agree the messaging was confusing. Most of us heard “horizontal” and thought gear would cap out like OSRS or GW2. What Clay Stone actually explained is that horizontal mostly means the world grows sideways: new zones, dungeons, raids, professions, and the level cap staying at 60. Gear will still go up a bit each tier, but they want the jumps small so older gear stays useful for a long time. That’s not quite what people expected, but it’s also not retail. I’d still like to see an item level cap and more situational gear, and that’s worth pushing for.
And honestly I don’t mind if camping was inspired by Turtle WoW. Good ideas are good ideas no matter where they come from, and it’s one of the best things in Forever so far.
I get being skeptical, but compared to SoD, Forever feels way more like a permanent world. SoD changed everything every phase and was always meant to end, which is a big part of why people left. Forever’s at least built to last. Have a good weekend too!
