Before we begin, yes the nerf to the ice lance was needed. I agree.
However, Stripping Winters chill of crit to add 25% damage to buff AoE on an already intentionally gutted AoE is a slap to the face. You want single target? Sure, but what does the frost mage have now? A frost blast that costs more mana, low damage and is to replace rank 1 frostbolt.
I’ve yet to see a mage, much less a frost mage do any dps comparable to the other classes, hunter, warlock, priest, paladin etc.
wtf blizzard? I was excited for Mage and even with the AoE gut, im like yeah itll be good. Nope. Every other class feels better than mage right now.
We’re level 30 dude. I am maining mage but understand that. Melee classes are full auto attacking with white dmg being their #1 form of dmg. We don’t have that.
We will scale substantially better at higher level due to the SP gear will provide. Balancing at 30 would be insane. Make gameplay fun, balance happens at 60.
Frost and Arcane werer playable prepatch and are still playable. Fire still up in the air right now.
Ice Lance was fine if you’re of average sp and leveling. This pvp tournament got people min maxing and stacking so much so causing it to hit a bit harder but still needed a frozen target and to actually crit. And the crying followed. That’s fine tho. I’ll just play arcane instead, really good changes there.
Weird. I’ve played a hunter, warlock, priest, and mage on Forever. The mage easily out-damages the priest and warlock and almost beats the hunter. With the summon drinks, I have like 5 seconds of downtime every couple of fights to top off.
Contrast with my priest that takes forever to kill something, has to use wand unless I want to end the fight completely OOM…
IKR? Fire Nova would get maybe two uses a fight, provided I had the mana on my ele shaman. Usually near the start of the fight, and usually at the end to finish the critter off. Now its just a waste of mana because literally anything else is better damage for the cost.
Either way, the reduced mana cost for the totem doesn’t make up for the amount of damage that was nerfed it looks like.
Probably should make this an ele post since some people put waaaay too much feelings into a spec to where it’s impossible to convince of them out of something.
Ele needs lots of love. Chain Lighting is so iconic it should be like the main ability. I was just playing WC3 and love it so much. If they let alliance sky elf be shaman that’s what I’d be playing instead.
you already have 50% crit chance from shatter (and 100% crit dmg from iceshard) lol how much more crit do you want lol.
Honestly the nerfs probaly wasnt enough tbh for frost mages. but we shal see granted we only have lvl 30 testing and thing can change at max level though
