WoW Forever Stress Test October 21

UPDATE – This test is now taking place on October 21

Please join us for the WoW Forever Stress Test on October 21.

On that day, we will first take the WoW Forever Beta offline, and we will then open WoW Forever on the regional hardware that it will operate on when the game goes live.

On October 21, the Stress Test will begin at 19:00 CEST for players in the EU region, 2:00 p.m. PDT for players in the Americas+Oceania, and at 5:00 a.m. in Taipei and 6:00 a.m. in Korea on October 22.

Any player with a WoW account is eligible to participate. No active subscription is needed.

Once you’re in, make a character, do a few quests, trade some items, chat, and group up with others to really put the game through its paces. This is a highly valuable event, since you’ll participate in our discovering of issues that would have otherwise happened on launch day.

WoW Forever will be available on production realms for a few hours, and then when we shut down the Stress Test, all characters will be deleted* and we will re-open the Beta.

*This is a complete wipe; names and everything else will be completely removed.

Thank you very much for joining us. We’ll see you there!

Yep, and we’re going to have some fun when the goal is to try to break the game…

To clarify, when the stress test goes down and the beta reopens, will only the stress test characters be deleted or also currently existing beta characters?

Just the stress test ones, you have until 21st for the regular Beta.

While this sounds great, the beta was going to shut down permanently like 3 days later. Why not just wait for that, instead of taking away play time from those who just want to continue playing the beta for the short time they have left?

They probably want to do it while people are still actively playing the beta so they get as much participation as possible. If they do it once the beta is gone, most people probably won’t bother because they’ll have switched off their WoW dopamine addiction loop until launch.

Lets take a guess at how many people will ACTUALLY follow these instructions…

Basically I just want to see a swarm of gnomes as I watch from my Undead and giggle!!!

Maybe not exactly but I can definitely see a massive party in a capital city where everybody spams their class aoe and sets up dozens of campfires and tents

Is this the part where we make characters with funny names before the server dies? :stuck_out_tongue: (Legitimately funny names, like puns, not the garbage that got .4% of players banned from beta…)

It says in the post that it’s on the regional hardware, so that would mean yes, it would be testing all the hardware they’ve set up for the live game as they want to test those servers under load and get as much data as possible.

I might be misinterpreting it then because I was about to replay back that the post made it sound like Americas+Oceania was grouped as 1 and the same, since the rest of the regions were broken down individually except for that one where they threw Americas and OCE together.

Okay…little concerned at the vagueness of the wording about character wipes / deletion.

Some clarity on the status of our existing toons post beta stress test would be great.

Edit : will the beta then be running on regional harware once the stress test is concluded ?
