Reacting to the awful news of Blizzard omitting the inclusion of an RP-PvP ruleset on launch, I gotta say it really iced out my enthusiasm and hype for the Forever release.
I played during the Classic release of 2019 on a regular PvP server but didn’t get hooked past the initial honeymoon phase of getting to 60 and clearing MC because I couldn’t stand the min-max culture, the non stop boost slop in trade chat, the rampant bot activity, the messed up economy due to said bots and RMT.
And here comes WoW Forever, the perfect opportunity to get a truly new and fresh start as well as the opportunity to really take it slow, to enjoy the game like when it just came out in 2004 and make memories that you will look back at fondly. However, what has been demonstrated to me in the beta is that there’s an absolutely immature and loud part of the playerbase that ruin it for me.
I was really hoping for a RP-PvP ruleset so that I could avoid the memelords and trolls while looking forward to the more immersive experience that comes from the RP community and their creativity as well as taking part in it.
There’s this argument that often comes around saying that a RP-PvP ruleset is doomed because that’s just where the PvP ruleset playerbase are gonna make their opposite faction alts and to that I say: so what, they are still mostly going to be alts! We need a ruleset for our mains!! The people who main on RP-PvP because they wanna be immersed by experiencing this new Classic+ through their character and with other like-minded people. Those who wanna express their creativity and love of the game through in-character interactions and even those who don’t RP but join the ruleset because it expects a certain mindset.
