here we go again
edit: during the weekend Iâll edit this into a point-by-point response to the devsâ misunderstandings regarding RP-PVP and its history)
Quick note: Aggrendâs words about Crusader Strike in SoD was a very disappointing misinterpretation of what happened.
The reality of the situation was that Blizzard decided to announce the week before launch that there would 1 RP-PVP server and several PVP, but without announcing any server names before the actual launch. Streamers decided on RP-PVP to easily organise with their communities on where to go, which caused it to be flooded and disrupted for actual RP-PVP players.
Using it as a reason against RP-PVP as a ruleset doesnât make sense. The premise for what happened also isnât present in WoW Forever, seeing as every ruleset only has 1 server.
Itâs also funny since while not the same, something similar looks like it might happen on RP(PVE) in Forever. The biggest streamer has announced heâs going PVE, and especially after seeing what happened with him and his guildâs presence in the Beta on the PVP ruleset, I imagine many PVE players will jump to RP without any intention of roleplaying just to escape.
Its very telling to me that they are cherry picking data that supports their âargumentâ
Pointing to SoD which was a massive failure in capturing a playerbase anyways
IGNORING classic grob
How can I take this in good faith when they do this?
Its so unbelievably tone deaf.
Blizzard needs to stop trolling the RP-PvP communityâŚ
You JUST broke it by saying youâd hit that cap xD
Blizzard, reconsider please! RP PVP needs to happen. Using Crusader Strike as the primary example isnât a good idea, Grobbulus was the real RP PVP server, and it was the most healthy server throughout all of the classic trilogy!
It was also a FREAKING SESONAL SERVER
Not everyone wanted to play in there knowing it was going to shut down.
And we must push this one to make a Part 3 to get the point across. Then Part 4.
Not including RP-PVP is a MASSIVE miss for Forever
What I really hate too is that now people who are outside the community and have no solid grasp of the issue feel emboldened by Aggrendâs false information to invade our posts parroting said misinformation⌠It sucks but we need to set the record straight.
I quit sod precisely because it was gonna end, I was busy and there was no point.
WE. WANT. RP-PVP.
SOD is also such a TERRIBLE example. MANY people like myself who played WoW Classic all through the years, to include Anniversary, either didnât touch SOD, or played it for a few days and stopped playing it because it just wasnât our flavor. Me personally, I didnât care for the class changes and super-duper-catch-up repeatable quests with 100x XP. Probably the worst example to use.
Mamma Mia, here we go again!
I was literally thinking that as I heard his response. It didnât feel addressed towards us at all, just ammo for people who donât know or care
Orchid doesnât know their own strength!
Using past servers that were setup by blizzard and doomed to fail as examples for why no new rppvp is crazy work
Blizzard actually griefing itself rn.
This change does not prevent fracturing a community, it actively fractures a community thatâs been a cornerstone of the game since its launch. RPPVE and RPPVP communities do not overlap as we have been on different servers for over 20 years, instead RPPVP gets torn apart and distributed amongst RP and PVP rulesets. I can only hope that they come to their senses and have it as an option on launch because adding it down the line is a surefire way to ensure that the ruleset does not thrive. Iâve been super excited about this for a long time and RPPVP has been a HUGE aspect of that, the removal of the entire ruleset is honestly enough to refund, which I have done.
Crusader strike is not representative of the rppvp community as a whole and to use that as an example of a server going sideways while in the same breath talking about how incredible Grobbulus was just feels like they are approaching the entire idea in bad faith. Why only consider the possibility where things go wrong rather than the possibility of things being amazing? I would much rather they have RPPVP on launch and if after a few months it isnt what they want - to shut down the server than have them start with NO rppvp option and add it later.
Bad change. Please reconsider.
Some people love sharing their opinions, even if they arenât: asked for, warranted, informed, or adding anything of value.
ABSOLUTELY INSANE LMAO
I hope we push this one to the limit to.
