I’m a player who absolutely despises RP and PvE. PvP is the only thing I enjoy. So, with that in mind, let me make one thing clear: there is absolutely no good reason not to give the RP community its own RP phases, just as PvE and PvP players have their respective phases.
Forever is already using layered hardware and software architecture to connect these environments and place players in the appropriate phases. We can see this in action with PvE and PvP players sharing the same auction house. The technology and infrastructure are already there to support this kind of interaction.
So why not offer both PvP-RP and PvE-RP rule sets? Let players choose the experience they want without taking anything away from the rest of us. Just because RP isn’t my thing doesn’t mean I can’t recognize that other players enjoy it. Let them have their fun! Giving players more choices is a good thing, not a threat to anyone else’s experience.
And while we’re at it, Blizzard/Microsoft needs to stop treating content creators and streamers as though they represent the entire player base. They don’t. Their opinions are not necessarily representative of the majority of players, and their priorities don’t always align with ours. They have their own audiences, interests, and incentives.
Listen to the community as a whole, not just the loudest voices with the biggest platforms. The average player deserves to have their preferences heard, too.
