Auto self-cast on npc's

Is this a me only bug?
When casting beneficial spells (healing, buffing) with no target selected, it will buff or cast on the nearest npc in front of me rather than myself ? (I have auto self cast set to ‘Auto’) Not all npcs, just the buffable ones and not players) Also, if an npc was my last target but was deselected then it will even cast on that npc when it is way behind me even though it is not targeted with some situations done through walls. happens on my priest for healing and buffing, happens on my mage when buffing. What is actually happening?!?

Do you have mouseover active in settings?

Nope. No mouseover set and mouseover cast is off. Happens when using both mouse buttons to run and rebuff heal on the fly. just if there is an NPC around that can take a buff or heal it will cast on them and not me. Edit: Turned off all addons to double check and it still does it.

Interesting. I wonder if there is some odd setting or even keybind acting strangely here. I have not personally witnessed this, so it is hard to say.

I started seeing this a few days ago. I try to self-buff Int on my Mage, but it buffs the NPCs around me instead. I do not have mouseover active.

It’s range is 25 yards. ~5.5 squares in IF as just over 6 squares is 30 yards. Also it doesnt have to be directly in front of me either as it will cast on any of them in 180 degrees, even if I have never targeted them. Action Targeting is also off and im mouse and kb only. Edit: and target not in line of sight too if the npc is inside a building but you are outside facing a wall. like bruh. Now i understand why i kept getting target not in line of sight when self casting sometimes.

this is happening to me and on my druid. wtf. submitted a bug report

Disable ‘Enable Interact Key’ and seemed to fix for me. For some reason it keeps turning itself back on every time I log in which is annoying but disabling it did fix the buffing issue on npcs

Also noticed this recently. Though, it’s not just yesterday’s build. It’s the one before that. Saw it first on my low level mage casting Arcane Intellect with no target. Then last night I used a scroll of spirit and it casted it on a nearby player while I had no target.

Just had this start happening to me for the first time today after logging back in. On a druid, heals and buffs going to the friendly NPC in front of me and not me, even though no target and auto self cast enabled. I tested whether or not it would do this with spells out of the spell book to ensure it wasn’t only a macro thing, and it did it with spells clicked in the spellbook.

As per the suggestion, I unchecked Enable Interact Key and this stopped happening. I rechecked it and it started happening again. I disabled all add ons, and it was still happening. So this definitely appears to be a thing on Blizzard’s end. I put in a bug report.
