Some players have started to encounter our latest weapon in our efforts against the Real Money Trade (RMT) aka gold buying. If your account is suspected of being involved in RMT, either the selling or receiving of illicit gains, you may find your account subject to a Temporary Economy Hold. You will have restricted use of trade, mail, guild banks and the Auction House while this economic hold is in place.
Our aim with this new system is to aggressively shut down the flow of suspicious gold before it has been transferred or put into circulation into the economy, while providing us the time needed to investigate more thoroughly.
If you are just playing the game normally, it is unlikely you will ever see this restriction applied to your account. If this restriction is applied to your account, it will be either automatically removed when the actions that triggered it have been investigated and found false, or you will receive account actions if found to have been involved in RMT.
This system is new. There may be false positives while things are fine tuned, but merely having a Temporary Economy Hold will leave no permanent strikes against your account unless also later proven to be RMT motivated.
Thank you for joining us! We remain committed to ensure that WoW Forever is not marred by the Real Money Trade, and all of these systems will also be deployed to all versions of World of Warcraft if proven successful.
Just another failed idea on your silly crusade against rmt and bots at the expense of players pay special attention to this part fellas.
This translates to not only are you going to have your account limited with no course of action but to wait or fight AI responses but also when people trade you you’re expected to know where the gold came from (impossible) and then get flagged off that if someones rmt’d as well.
At this point i don’t even know what you guys are thinking anymore you’ve failed to stop rmt and bots for 22 years and i know exactly why. It’s time to stop penalizing legitimate players and revert these ridiculous changes you’re making and hire real people to monitor and ban them leaving the core game unchanged.
I’ll be waiting with the popcorn when all of this blows up in your face and you ban 100’s if not 1000’s of players and many other 1000’s get economy limited from basic trades.
All of this btw, and all of the terrible dungeon changes and spellcaster nerfs and aoe nerfs, ALLLLLLLLLLLL of this is being done because they refuse, under any circumstances, to ban the bots because they pay a sub.
Allow people to do GDKP then if you want it resolved without using another AI system that will negatively affect innocent players. China is allowing GDKP.
I like the “hold” policy. Too many times Blizzard has banned first, then unbanned later with an apology and that feels bad as an innocent player. If you guys truly investigate, I’m all on board!
Will there be any action on the obvious bots? Like, they’re so obvious and if a regular player targets them, they get mass reported and end up with a magical ban a day or two later…
Will it be allowed to trade among friends and guildmates?
If someone for example needs help with getting their mount or buying spells or mats and it is someone we play with, will we be punished for trading amongst ourselves?
Please do i’ve been posting on forums about gdkp’s and boosting for many years now i don’t rmt and i don’t bot and have nothing to worry about.
I know these changes hurt legitimate players i’ve experienced there silly changes 1 by 1 through every version of the game slowly destroying it for players.
I expect this to ruin the game for people who aren’t engaging with RMT.
I cannot wait to be trade-banned for selling an item on the AH because someone who bought it engaged in RMT. There is no way visibility into other players’ gold. Making me liable for other peoples’ behavior is more design failure.
Do the possible false positives include blocking half the community from being able to use the auction house for days recently despite never buying or accepting gold from a single person?
If so, it needed a little more time in the oven beforehand.
