Launch night: are we getting into Azeroth or battling the queue boss?

The beta gave Blizzard a clear look at what happens when everyone tries to log in at once. Now prepare for 10x that demand.

People are taking time off, clearing their evenings and getting their friends together. Spending two hours in a queue, finally getting in, then disconnecting and going to the back of the line would kill that excitement fast.

Blizzard, what’s being done with the beta results to make release night smoother? More capacity? More stress tests? A grace period so disconnects don’t send players back to the end of the queue?

Would love a dev response before launch. For everyone else: how was your beta login experience, and what needs fixing most?

You won’t be playing in any meaningful way on launch night.

I won’t be queuing until the weekend ish as one of my kiddos has a play at school. But I can imaging it will be precisely this and then most people coming to the forums as if this is not to be expected.

The people who paid for the highest version should get to log in first. Forever collection first, then epic pack buyers, then heroic pack buyers, then the unwashed plebs.

Basically. Gonna be playin’ another game in another window while I sit in queue. If I get in great, if I don’t… It’s to be expected.

definitely gonna be queues. I bet we’ll still be able to play though. Might be laggy as hell and I’m starting to suspect they might not fix that invite/whisper lag by launch if they haven’t even acknowledged it yet, but we’ll probably be able to get in eventually.

I’m on call and working that weekend as well, so I’ll basically just not be playing until the following week.

They aren’t going to invest in the server infrastructure to guarantee a smooth launch knowing that a day later they won’t need that capacity anymore.

At the very least you will see login queues.

my prediction is that we’ll get in and battle the 10 players per mob boss.

and quests being packed till no end lmao

Imma work real hard to become a famous streamer by the time new content comes out so I can get the good queue.

Whispers don’t even work on the beta.

Do with that information what you will.

There’s a certain amount of time you get when you finally get on that keeps you at the front to prevent getting booted to the end of the que when you were already online.

oh, the whole game is going to be a mess for a while lol. I’ve been saying like at least a year of us basically still beta testing the game. 30-60 won’t have been tested, none of the raids, it’s gonna be a ride lol

It will likely be similar to the Beta, a couple hours of instability and then smooth out.

Blizzard has actually gotten pretty good at launches these days, not much to really complain about. I kind of enjoy the frenetic activity of launch with all the ups and downs it entails.
