Targeted Ban manipulation

Here we are. RMT is banned and people demanded harsh punishments. Blizzard is delivering on that promise, but it’s now being used to target your enemies to get them banned.

Multiple streamers have been sent 7 gold in the mail. Exactly the same amount. One tried to delete the mail and it wouldn’t delete because the sender deleted their character. He was then banned.

Now other streamers are seeing 7 gold appearing in their mailbox. Shobek just reported the mail and it got removed.

The senders all had Foreverpvp in their name and it’s clear it’s a participant in the tournament targeting other participants and it’s working to get them banned before the tournament.

My issue isn’t the tournament. My issue is how abusive this system is. You can’t open all mail without a potential ban. You can target people you hate with gold and get them banned. I’m all for banning RMT and punishing gold sellers and buyers, but banning innocent people selling services and accidentally receiving bad gold, or opening their mail is a slippery slope.

Blizzard said they don’t want to cause fear in the community but it’s causing fear. People shouldn’t be one enchant tip away from a ban.

Streamers crying because the system they’re demanding gets used against them is peak irony.

For years it was:

“Ban harder.”

“Punish buyers.”

“Zero tolerance.”

Now suddenly people are discovering that false positives and abuse are a concern.

Is 7 gold the current threshold for the AI’s rmt ban detection? That’s interesting. Yeah sounds like a real cluster F. Basically don’t open mail from strangers I guess.

Literally don’t care about streamers. When normal players are randomly sent gold maybe I will care about this.

There’s your answer. They know how the system works so I wouldn’t worry too much about the poor little streamer. Chances are the ones banned were guilty, got caught, and are now trying to claim innocence.

How many already have been and you don’t know because they don’t have a voice? Not everyone knows these forums even exist.

If you are okay with targeted harassment bans simply because you hate streamers, that’s also a concern.

Add self found servers, let RMT, Streamers, and AH reliant losers burn in their the hell they’ve created on normal servers.

The streamer class has personal access to Blizzard to manually look at any infraction. The rest of us do not. Streamers are fine.

I would play this. As long as it’s not hardcore. I want a character that I can invest in long term, hardcore is just an extra for me for the thrills.

If they had a full self found, PvE ruleset, I’d play it. Nobody has an advantage outside of time and how hard they work. I would like transfers between your own characters though. Self found might be a little too strict, lol.

Wasn’t there a guild recently in the classic or whatever world that threatened to destroy every streamer?

Same. I want Self Found-PvE/Rp/Pvp I don’t care. Let me have to make my own reagents. I’ll make an alchemist alt to make my raid supplies, I’ll make an enchanter to get my own stuff done.

SSF is kinda the hot thing in 2026 given how anti-RMT, anti-Bot, anti-streamer, anti-P2W the gamer world has become. Games get easier and easier and people want to still have a sense of accomplishment and pride in those accomplishments. OSRS, Path of Exile, even Maplestory, etc. all have self found versions of their multiplayer experiences that are WILDLY popular with the masses.

That’s the point. Streamers have video evidence to appeal. We do not. Which is why we should all be concerned that people are getting banned for targeted gold mails.

If I don’t get my bis weapon in raid, I could buy gold and send it to my guild leader and get him banned. That is concerning. There is a very fine line to thread with how they instant ban.

Yeah the amusing part is I have much higher confidence that streamer bans are legitimate because they have personal handlers actually looking at what they did.

An account wide self found would eliminate RMT completely. Nobody could trade you, pay you, or anything. The only group benefit is content completion. I suppose RMT could be like the old account sharing tactic, but that’s easy enough to detect and ban, plus we could laugh at people who get their accounts hijacked and destroyed then cry about it. But you should be able to trade conjured items. Water/food, health stones, class conjured stuff.

No I don’t think the amount matters. The streamer couldn’t return it because it’s likely the owner was already banned. He tried to delete it but wouldn’t let him.

So it’s a loop hole or edge case for the auto bot. He has his account back, and hopefully blizz can fix this.

The worst part, is that this has been going on for literal years on retail. For the low price of a few dollars, you could target ban other players by getting RMT players to send them gold.

Blizzard never bothered to fix or address this, but there are only four likely outcomes now that this is targeting streamers.

They do nothing, and it becomes total chaos as people start doing this to everyone else.

They just idle back the anti RMT stance, and everything gets worse.

They carve out even more special protections for streamers, but don’t solve this for normal players(my money is on this)

Or they put in the barest of effort and make a toggle that makes it impossible to send mail to someone not on your friends list. Instantly solving the problem.

If the amount didn’t matter then someone could send out 100’s or 1000’s of 1 silver mail to ban 100’s or 1000’s of people.

This…and some additional characters to meet the minimum.

Ignore this guy 100% he’s on every dang thread shilling for streamers that they are “being targeted unfairly”.

Look at this post…just don’t open the mail. Duh.

Laughable at best.

Automated systems towards character and account punishments like silences, bans, and closures; do not belong in World of Warcraft.
