Gold bans too aggressive ! ELXOKAS banned

ok so Aggressive gold bans are not the way to go , Botters/hackers/cheaters will always find a way . recently people been getting banned for taking a tip . or more less the tournament people are gifting gold some bad actors are getting people banned .

So what happens if a crafter makes a rare item after getting the mats and gets gold for making it as a tip and bam banned .

what happens if any profession if you make someone something or port someone get a tip and bam banned

Currency bans do not work when the real problem is botters . are we going to just ignore all gold and can’t make create or do anything in game for anyone

how is anyone going to know gold is legit made or not .

we are only in beta . rare crafting recipes are not in beta , mage ports , alot of stuff is not in the beta that people do get tipped for .

without the streamers being attacked we have 0 idea what bans are real and what bans have been unfortunate and legit for that person doing something getting gold and bam banned

recently ELXOKAS got banned live on stream for accepting 7 gold while having 130 gold in his bags . the character that sent it was deleted and now is banned

i guess i put this warning here before the tournament thats coming up

DO NOT ACCEPT ANY GOLD , even if its 1 gold . there is a bad actor out there

I couldn’t find sympathy for this issue if I had 10,000 years and an electron microscope.

Good the more streamers banned the better. We don’t need them in here.

How do we know it was just from the 7 gold and not something else he’s
done? We don’t know how their system works, but if it’s AI it could of a been a straw that broke the camels back situation.

Our stance hasn’t really changed on this and we’re going to be very aggressive and we are not going to tolerate this and we’ve already kind of already demonstrated that in the beta. We’ve already had a lot of great results come from that. We’ve actually closed over 2,100 gold buying accounts (accounts that have bought gold on the Beta) and we have closed almost 1,600 gold selling or botting accounts on the beta. And this is a thing that we’re going to continue to work towards and continue to improve over time.

The other piece that I really want to talk about is the rules around trading. We’re going to have, in a future update, whenever you trade, a little modal that says, “Are you sure you want to trade with this person?” We’re going to add to that and include a message that says, “Be sure you know where your Gold is coming from” when you Trade with people. We don’t want to create an aura of fear here. We’ve gotten very good at determining what is a legitimate trade, like if you’re tipping someone for a portal or if you’re getting something crafted. We’re getting pretty good at determining what that is. We’re also getting pretty good at telling when it’s like, “Hey, this is bought gold. This is part of an RMT transaction,” and we’ve done a lot of actions already for this. And so it’s something we kind of want to warn you about when you accept a trade or accept a mail. That’s something that’s going to be going in pretty soon.

so 2100 accounts gone . are they really buying gold , the only reason we know about this is because he streamed it live . how many really have been banned for just accepting gold for a item or some help in game , punishing crafters/helpers for accepting gold isnt the correct way to do this . why we punishing people that worked hard to sell what they got and unfortunate for them sold it to a gold buyer, the tracking of the gold should stop at the gold buyer and gold seller not filter down into the server to where ever that gold went thats not the players fault there is illegal gold in the server and now we have a cloud over the server to not accept gold of anyone no matter what , what if your bag has some brought gold nobody going to know why we even allowed to give gold if thats such a big problem in the game that one transaction can delete your account

You should not be getting banned for accepting gold for items , crafting or helping in game

if thats the case forget the warnings just remove it completely if its that much of a problem

accepting 7 gold to wish someone good luck in a tournament seems ok and legit

accepting 100 gold for a lions helm in game seems ok and legit

accepting 10 gold for a port or helping someone in a dungeon seems ok and legit

or even questing get given 1 gold for helping out for a hour or two just to say thanks

the warning does not matter, oh wow make sure you know the golds not brought and how the heck is anyone going to know that are you serious

Your confusion is that you think he accepted 7 gold and was banned. You’re assuming that was the extend of the problem because that’s all you witnessed.

You have no idea what has taken place on his account off stream.

Streamers getting banned so they stop influencing the games direction is a good thing.

He had 160g already… who’s to say where THAT gold came from? Maybe it was that gold that did it? It could be it happened after the 7g because they were reviewing previous transactions. You do realize that it’s not instantaneous every time; it is being reviewed…

this is perhaps the most appropriate reply that can be made on this subject. gg well said +1

Streamers should be banned for the sole reason of being streamers.

They have addressed how RMT trading is detected and said they’ve gotten ‘very good’ at detecting the difference between buying gold vs. a tip for a portal or something similar.

I’m not saying they can’t make mistakes, but I don’t think your scenario is an issue where a crafter gets banned for taking gold for something they made.

Also they are banning botters and gold sellers, they’re just adding buyers now.

They’re doing great and they need to keep banning them.

EDIT: I take this back after seeing the video. The guy got banned live on stream for 7 gold and he was trying to get rid of the message. He had like 200g already, there is no way he’d be buying 7g. Sorry this is messed up and there needs to be more on it.

We know already they royally screwed up with the name ban and a lot of innocent people got banned. I’m rapidly losing trust in their ability to handle this stuff.

Blizzard has specifically said that if there’s a trade or a service that was discussed in game they can tell, and it won’t be considered RMT even if the trade or service seems unfair to one party. Though obviously, “selling” a 5 gold item for 200g is suspicious.

I feel like the thread should’ve just ended here, this was all that was necessary.

Yep that’s what Im referring to.

The streamer isn’t going to say your name on stream unless you give him money.

This is also a huge red flag. Nobody has this much gold in beta unless they’re going hard farming things…for what, though? It’s a beta and everything is being wiped in a week.

Love when streamers are like going to go eat dinner and then farm some gold off stream and they come back like 2 hrs later with 100+ gold and its like yeah you didn’t farm that and we all know it.

I was leveling my 2nd character a couple weeks ago… days? I dunno, the beta was still kind of new and someone handed me 1 gold in Elwynn Forest.

I already had about 6 gold total by then, but it was a very nice gesture from someone.

They were just running by and turned around and handed it to me. I said thank you and we parted ways.

It was shortly after that the gold junk blew up. But I wasn’t punished. So it would appear random gold trading, tips and gifts aren’t likely to flag the system as it currently stands.

Anyways… thanks to whoever it was that gifted me a gold! I used it to buy spells and a larger bag.

They said that receiving gold from someone who bought it unknowingly they are working not to punish. They are punishing those who buy gold and those who KNOWINGLY accept bought gold. So it makes sense that you didn’t get in trouble. I personally wouldn’t have accepted it because I’m paranoid, but that’s just me haha.

yeah, im not buying the story.

Blizzard does not instantly ban. It was most likely not the 7g that triggered the ban.
