Please increase the speed of the Day/Night Cycle!

I have to login well past midnight in order to see the game in it’s most beautifully dark and scary time! Especially for this upcoming Hollow’s Eve, pretty pretty pretty please!

No way. I like that certain times of the day are “rare” for some of us. It’s been on a 24 hour clock since day 1, and that is one thing that should not be changed in Forever.

Time zones and single server structure completely kills the idea. For example right now it’s going on 10AM in Sydney but 7PM in the east coast of the US.

Players in Australia may just never see the game in daylight if they only have time to play in the evenings like the majority of working people. When they get home from work it’s the middle of the night in the game. The sun will just be coming up as they are needing to go to bed for work. I’m not even Australian but I’ve heard this as a concern from some friends over there.
EU is at least separated into their own server region but OCE falls under NA server structure.

And that’s a technical conundrum but game changes should not be made around that.

So screw over an entire region of players because “you don’t like the idea”

They are screwed over by not having their own region, or not having enough players to support an entire server for them.
The only way to solve this is for Blizzard to give them their own region, or maybe giving them a region but also allowing crossplay with NA so they get lower ping and local game time but could still group with NA players if they want.

Or just have a sped up day/night cycle… Opinion is not fact so your individual preference doesn’t mean the rest of us should have to never get the opportunity to play through part of the game’s content.

If something has been set in all versions of the game since the game was a game, it’s on you to provide a good argument for changing it. You’re not the first person to say “well I can only play at X times so I never see the day/night/etc” but that argument clearly hasn’t worked over the past 22 years so I doubt it will now and is just as valid as the argument “I like certain times of day being rare”.

The Appeal to Tradition fallacy isn’t a very convincing one.

Well neither is “because OCE players don’t have their own region so their server time doesn’t match with their real time”. Like yeah, that IS a problem, but the solution is giving them their region back, not changing the game to accomidate that.

The good argument is that this is the first time ever that OCE players didn’t have their own server with their own local time.

It’s obvious that they are not going to do that. They are even baking mini servers into the layering system so that OCE players can play on their own ping. But guess what that doesn’t include? Local time.
They are going out of their way to not make OCE servers.

That is unfortunate to hear.
But when it comes to screwing up the play experience of everyone on NA and EU to cater to the much smaller player base in OCE, do we really want to do that? Or instead use our time and energy advocating for giving OCE their region back?

Because I don’t want my game time to get messed with. I like it at 24 hours. A lot of people do. Some people don’t. Whatever, it’s a personal subjective taste. I just don’t want it messed with and that’s okay. You want it changed and that’s okay too.

I hate how there’s absolutely zero nuance in today’s world. So why can’t Blizzard give OCE their own region with their own game time again?

Repeatedly claiming that your argument is the solution without actually supporting that claim isn’t an argument. You’re simply repeating yourself.

Are you trying to frustrate yourself?

Your problem, as YOU stated, is that because OCE players live in a time zone very different from NA, their game time of day is offset too much to be immersive like it is for NA and EU.

Your solution is shortening the time of day so it’s no longer immersive to anyone.
My solution is giving OCE players their own region and game time, so it will be immersive to everyone.

There you go!

Games can be immersive without being a 1:1 copy of real life, but then again it’s not very ‘immersive’ that I never experience nighttime despite the fact that it’s supposed to occupy ~1/3 of our time.

What is a solution if the developers have shown they simply are not willing to do it?

Do you know how much backlash Blizzard got over the fiasco that was the Maladath server on Anniversary? It got deleted (with no warning btw) and they forced all OCE players onto NA servers when the game went from Classic to TBC Anni. Ironically that’s how I met my OCE friends because they got moved to my server.

Even AFTER that they are going this route. That happened months ago.
Is that enough time to spin up entirely new server regions for Forever? I don’t know, but probably not.
Is that enough time to at least announce that they are PLANNING to do it? Yes.

But instead they’ve done the opposite, they’ve done work directly to cater to OCE players (the ping layering I mentioned above) while not even saying they may go a different route entirely. Their position on the matter has been said loud and clear.

Are you EU by chance? The Beta realms are on NA times, this won’t really be an issue when its within Normal EU hours.

I’m beginning to think realm time must just be really messed up because I’m actually in NA, but it doesn’t even hit nighttime in game until 1 AM my time.

EU players can’t post on our forums I believe, forum access is based on region subscription afaik. (obv some people may have both)
Anytime I go on the EU forums I can’t post anything

OMG!!! Yes, please change the Day/Night cycle. Normally play only at night and this truly sucks for someone who enjoys the brightness of the world, not the darkness.
