There should be an indicator or priority order for people who can be bothered to run to the dungeon and queue from the stone. That way I don’t have to waste time inviting someone who can’t be bothered to actually get to the dungeon and expect everyone to wait.
Nah just remove the stones entirely, they are useless. And put a players location in the list of applicants.
They’re thematic and immersive, I’d rather keep them.
I think the standard will be to put your location in the little additional notes field. Or tell the groups your whispering trying to join where you are. something like “x hunter dps in Wetlands”
What I would like to see is the automated dungeon finder, where it assembles the group from people who que up, but you can only que up that way from the stone itself, and you drop que if you travel out of the zone its in.
So you can say, que up as a DPS for Deadmines at the stone in west fall, and it’ll try and match you with a tank, healer and 2 other dps that also used the same feature, and still remain in westfall.
Nah stinks of retail. Just talk to people. I want to look through people who are queued and select people, not have some hopeful who’s 2 levels below what they should be for the dungeon trying to get into the group.
Just put a level limit on when you can que; if they are below the recommend level, don’t let them que.
Agreed. I would love to see this implemented because the current system leads to a ton of DPS just sitting in the list waiting to be picked by tanks/healers like animals at a shelter begging to be adopted.
Not really a lot of valuable social interaction in asking “Got room for [Class]?” 20+ times to try and get in a group.
Distilled down to its essence pretty much every social interaction and mechanic is not very valuable.
I agree with this, or something that shows where the PC currently is located when looking through the list.
Or the only way to que is at the stone.
Hell no, lol…
Which is exactly my point here, and with convos during questing. The vast majority of the vaunted socializing aspects are bland workplace hallway conversations. The amount we lose by cutting them out is nothing compared to what we gain by allowing groups to form faster and more reliably.
By making the system require you to use the meeting stone to queue up, you could even still have moments of possible sudden social activity. For example: You run to the meeting stone to queue up. Two others are there. One asks “Hey, you queueing for [dungeon[?” You say “Yeah”, they ask “Wanna join us? We’re about to queue too”
There you go. Hypothetical group moment that’s just as likely as any others I’ve seen used to advocate for NOT having LFG.
Fair enough, good points.
This is a good idea, a colour change or symbol in the UI should show if anyone is near to the stone/entrance or in the zone.
that would make for some very interesting pvp interactions
It would be fantastic.
I agree with the stones being more than just a stone. You’ve made your way to them and you should be able to utilize them to build your group, they would be sources of PvP and Camping and socialization.
I’m not asking for them to instantly summon missing players or work like a warlock summon or teleport anyone anywhere.
This right here. A well designed system shouldn’t leave people feeling rejected over and over. There’s probably an argument to be made for giving you a thicker skin, but I’m thinking that’s not the point of LFG. If LFG can’t actually help you find a group, then something needs to change.
