There have been no updates that I can find since the Oct 1st update for the beta, where it said an issue had been resolved but I have submitted several bug reports since as the First/Last name issues are obviously still impacting mail between characters and I’d like to make sure it won’t happen during launch. All my characters are on the same ruleset and same guild and faction and all share the same last name, so the issue still appears to be related to the mail system ignoring last name, which was supposedly fixed on Oct 1st.
Issues I am (still) having:
- When sending mail to my priest or shaman that have common first names (priesty and sham), the mail sends but never arrives at their inboxes. This has happened from various characters.
- When trying to send mail to my other characters with less common names but still common, I get “Target is Unfriendly” which indicates it’s trying to mail someone on the opposite faction.
- After the issue with first/last names was first reported and I continued getting errors, I made new characters with truly unique first names. All of my characters are still able to send mail to those new characters with unique first names, but those characters still experience the errors above when trying to mail back to the non-unique first name characters.
Troubleshooting done:
- I’ve cleared cache and WTF folders.
- This is across two different beta accounts that are tied to same bnet account (they share collection tabs and legacy points), and the issue happens between characters on the same account so it doesn’t appear to be specific to any game account.
Issues are still happening as of today.
