On a more serious note, I do see my hawks in the DPS meter. Last I checked they did about 14% of my damage. But that was a short fight, I don’t know how it shakes out long term. I keep 2 active and use the third cooldown on arcane shot before refreshing the first hawk.
The most important thing they do, though, is look cool. You point at the enemy and a hawk dives at them and shreds their stupid ugly face with its vicious talons. You get to hear the red tailed hawk screech. You have not one, but THREE animals attacking the poor sod that pissed you off.
Also they have a large aggro radius and will get one-shotted by any passing mob, who then attacks you and makes life miserable. So, you know, it’s a trade off.
