List of classes and specs I've seen be unhappy

Just in case anyone started feeling like their spec was the worst one in the game and that everyone else is perfect and that there’s “no reason to bring [my spec] to raid”, I have seen threads complaining about:

Warrior - Unable to charge while in combat
Warrior - Fury generation
Druid - Feral
Shaman - Elemental
Shaman - Enhancement
Rogue - No energy tick
Rogue - Subtlety
Hunter - Needs to drink too much, sad face
Priest - Shadow
Paladin - Retribution
Mage - General complaints about the talent tree

First of all, huge shout outs to the Warlock players for not complaining (in my line of sight) despite Orcs having that racial.

Second of all, do you notice? Every single DPS class/spec (with the exception of Balance Druid and Warlocks) is in here complaining that their class or spec is garbage now. I have seen each and every one of these groups complain that “noone will bring [my class] to raid” in this condition. What, so we’re just raiding with no DPS?

What if: All of the classes have problems on purpose? And that no class has it truly perfect? And that most of the things you DPS mains are complaining about are designed and intentional flaws?

I’m also noticing that no two class has the same complaint. Rogue is complaining about the lack of energy ticks, but Druid - despite also having no energy tick - is complaining about no powershifting.

Honestly, the funniest part of all this is that Balance Druids haven’t complained because they’re already anticipating being the chewed gum stuck to the underside of the table. I wish you could all be humble like that.

I am not saying that your complaints are unjustified

I am however saying that it’s funny that you all think you all have it the worst and have absolutely no awareness around you. You are all saying that noone will want to raid with you… and honestly, with the way I’ve seen you talk to your fellow players & the blizzard developers, I believe you.

Lol.

*all classes except hunter

To be fair, the one thing I’ve learned from betas is to complain MORE. I do try to stay measured and realistic in my requests.
And it’s not like I’m constantly pointing out the rogue is the best class an no amount of nerfs will change that.

My opinions. Just that. Opinions.

Hunter: the mana thing is annoying. Having to drink that often but it’s kind of a minor thing compared to other classes. Mostly for hunter, I dislike that they are penalized 25% of their bag space. We should be able to put the quiver in the reagent slot. Had the most fun with hunter and this will be my main when the game goes live.

Mage: too squishy. Goes through mana too fast. Wand bot. Doesn’t /feel/ like a mage at this level. Spell cheatback is infuriating to the point it makes me want to stop playing the class. Every spell cast time is doubled or more because a mob hits me and never misses.

Rogue: idc about energy ticks. Energy in general is too slow. combo pts are too stingy. SND feels like a tax more than a buff. And Sub doesn’t feel good in instances. The game hates stealth. Miss chance is way too high. Limp away from most 1v1 fights against a same level mob with barely any health left. Have to eat after every mob. Not fun.

Lock: no complaints really other than that the high elves can’t be warlock.

War: rage is an awful mechanic. Walks away from every 1v1 fight nearly dead. Lost interest before level 12.

Druid: played resto. At first it felt awful but after the wrath tweak it’s fine. Levelled to 25 as feral spec while wanting to be resto. Then went resto and just quested in cat form with a high DPS 2 hander and that was okay. Not the most exciting gameplay but tolerable.

Priest: meh. wand bot. Tried healing Hall of Thanes with it. Insanely mana hungry. Oom constantly after every pull. Lost interest at level 12.

Paladin: heard seal twisting came back so I didn’t even bother playing it.

Priest disc/holy leveling is herendous. Heal fine. Questing painful.

Have a warlock at 30 with over 100 sp. It’s… not great. Spell baseline nerf hits really hard, and leveling takes way more casting and work than it did in vanilla. Warlock is not in a good place, at least at 30.

To be fair with balance druid.

The main issue was wrath.

I do have some concerns but I can’t say until the game is out cuSe of the gear changes ..

We don’t really know how mana hungry it will be and if spells will be fine.

All we know that it’s ok now…
I am a little concerned about starfire but gotta wait and see if it gets better with end game gear

But overall I’m pretty happy with it

Purpose of the Beta is to let the devs know where the problems are. Your list is a little too concise, actually.

The only thing I don’t like about hunters is how awesome they are. Everyone will be playing them now. This is forcing me to become a hipster, as I have been playing a hunter since 2005.

Tbf i have been maining hunter in classic already so it’s not like i’m “changing” classes, lol.

I think most people are upset with how little love some specs got.

Some classes such as paladin, hunter, shaman got A LOT of changes, others got few to none.

Priest for example, some good changes, but shadow is literally a SWP bot pressing DP once a minute, and pressing mindblast and mindflay. the least interesting playstyle I have ever seen honestly, its horrific. You just mindflay and mindblast on CD.

They gave us shadow word death and dev plague baseline, which is neat… but then took vamp embrace and gutted it.

Also improved fade is still a talent deep in our tree for some reason.

Just all around shadow needs help. Look at the thread about it.

Fury is likely ok now, with the changes on the 4th. Might need some slight adjustment at 60 with rage depending but thats more an easily get 1-2 more rage on every weapon speed kind of thing now. Before it was balanced around bugged testing they were doing and none of the sims were seeing what they were playing at 60 internally so they found that bug.

Arms is still a massive problem. We’ll likely see a re-work before launch or slight after launch. It’s a dead spec right now still due to rage normalization. Both in pvp and pve thats why charge is combat is getting so much attention it will likely be the first thing they try to make it work in pvp once they fix rage economy for it.

Hehe, right? >> I’m debating druid, warlock or mage now… I love my hunter, but there’s billions of them around. My first character at release was a Tauren hunter, so it’s dear to my heart.

Nah hunters mad they can’t be official mob puller spec.

Ret palds are just upset because they can’t kill a prot pally.

I main warlock. I’m not complaining because I have no faith in them even attempting to fix the issues or even listening. And the community here is so toxic they’ll just tell us to go play retail.

So whatever. I’ll play something else until I get bored and leave like everyone else.

because a game where every class feels a little broken isn’t a good game. It’s a game with systemic flaws that the creators don’t understand well enough to fix.

Or they’re afraid to fix b/c the old men yelling at clouds will scream “that’s not classic!” at them, despite this being Forever, not a retread of 2005 vanilla.

I’m not a fan of the retail mechanic vomit high APM gameplay. But I think they might have overcorrected a bit too far. Instead of APM we have MPA. Autoattack simulator isn’t exactly the most fun thing.

Yeah, exactly. When I purchased the beta thinking it was classic plus I did not realize that they meant they would be rolling all the way to 2004. Including undoing all of the lessons learned and the mistakes that were made along the way to completely hit the reset button as if they’ve learned nothing in the last 20 years.

Right there is one of the biggest issues right now.

Ok sure the devs had a history of failures… But now they are too afraid to do anything… Gg
