I tanked Hall of Thanes on my lv 16 druid. I went in completely blind.
The group focused on skipping as much trash as possible. On era, I can clear probably 80% of the trash and people seem happy about it. On forever, they were very vocal about skipping trash because you made the mob XP worthless. I FEEL like there is a lot of pressure to skip trash on forever that I do not get on era. Sure, there is some pressure to skip trash on era, but it seemed much higher on forever. I only have a sample size of 1 on the forever dungeon.
This was not a fun dungeon experience. I like clearing the majority of the dungeon.
As a tank, I now have pressure to skip as much trash as possible. I don’t like this.
To make matters worse, before I could loot the boss head and artifacts, everyone left group and I was unable to collect the items for my quest.
I now have to debate running it a second time. Which feels bad because the mob XP is reduced.
I really enjoy the overworld questing. I really enjoy tanking dungeons. I enjoy the social aspect of 5 man dungeons.
Kill boosting, kill dungeons as being the meta to level, but please don’t kill the fun part of dungeons.
I have been told that this game is not for me.

Or because they already did it and wanted to get through it quicker?
They shouldn’t be queuing then.
Correct, but on era, there is still a bit of a reward for killing extra trash. This would make it easier to compromise between the “skip everything” crowd, and the “clear the dungeon” crowd.
Now, the skip everything crowd can be very vocal.

Plenty of reason to run it again.
Since this game isn’t supposed to be classic shared resources and mob tagging should be a thing. Everyone should be able to click on an artifact or other quest objective and receive it. Not wait for one person to get it then wait for the item to respawn.

Then go with the tank. If the tank wants to pull something go along. It’s group content not me content. If someone in the party needs something or needs to get to an area in a dungeon then you go. That’s what a party is for.
I don’t know. I was busy tanking and wasn’t able to focus on the quests until we killed the last boss. I was in the process of looting items when everyone left. At that point, I couldn’t collect anything.
Was that supposed to mean something? All of it was grammatically correct and wass in English but somehow it still made no sense.
You most likely had a very bad group. It happens.
Also totally underwhelming for a dungeon.
So short, so boring.
I was expecting… more.
pats you on the head there there…
It creates more friction now between the skip crowd and the kill everything crowd. Before the mob xp nerf, if the skip everything crowd was kind of forced to kill everything, then at least they would get XP. Now, if the skip everything crowd is forced to kill everything, they have much more cause to be upset as they get no XP.

I agree the pressure to efficienmaxx dungeons makes for a very negative experience.
But, I posit an alternative solution, irrespective of xp rewards: “imagine a dungeon without ‘trash’”
The idea that a component of dungeons and raids is just “trash,” best avoided, never struck me as right? I think mobs should be integral to the experience, or not there. Maybe that’s what an xp reward is for?

THis OP is precisely why its imperative that you find a group of people that share your interests with in this game. that way you can clear entire dungeons and it wont be a problem. pugging dungeons has always been terrible for tanks because the go go go mentality is so damn prevalent in them you are always felt like you are being rushed.
This has not been my experience at all. Out of my many dungeon runs, I had one rush group, and they chain pulled almost everything.
Also, when I tank on my Druid, I just do whatever I want. Pull most trash, nobody says anything. What are they going to do? Kick me? Cool, it doesn’t take more 2 minutes to get another invite as a tank. lol
