Edit: I’m elaborating as maybe I wasn’t clear enough in my description.
I am a level 26 paladin.
I am casting rank 1 flash of light.
Rank 1 flash of light tooltip says my cast should heal the target for 101-108 hp.
When I cast on a character who is level 26 (myself, a friendly, so on), the amount healed matches the tooltips description. however
When I cast on a player who is level 24, the rank one flash of light is healing for 90-96
Nothing has changed about what I’m casting. My gear is the same. I was able to test on two targets who were side by side.
I can’t think of any good reason healing should be reduced when targeting a lower level character. The damage I do isn’t reduced when I hit a lower level mob. I haven’t tested healing someone of a higher level to see what happens but this feels punishing if a healer is healing a lower level tank.
Classic WoW a rank 1 heal even is almost 20% less than a rank 1 heal in WoW Forever. And in this version of the game, it is less effective vs higher levels as well. A rank 1 crit from WoW Forever is currently less than the lowest possible heal in WoW Classic. It is that way for every spell rank for healing paladins as well to where your crits of every rank in Forever are lowers than your lowest possible heal in WoW Classic.
The only way you can get around is to get the best gear humanly possibly in the entire game as that will have better stats than regular Classic stats, if you do not get that, then you will be far weaker than you ever were in Classic. If a players is lower or higher level than you, then yes your spells have less of an effect, if they are an extreme difference from you then there is next to 0 effect. On bursts, but not hots. As long as you are in the best guild and have the best possible gear in the game, then this will not effect you as that gear has been designed just for WoW Forever to circumvent this problem, but if it is not possible to get into the best possible guild and get the best possible gear, then yes, you will remain greatly effected by this change for the entire time that you play WoW Forever.
It won’t be as long as you have the best gear, if not, then yes still will be effected by this new change. Get in good guild and none of this will effect you at all.
But here’s another thing to consider, Som and SoD changed tremendously from start to finish, no reason why this game mode will not as well even though this is not intended to be seasonal and those two versions were, those are the two new unique versions of Classic, this is the 3rd and likely final unique version of level 60 version Classic.
So, no, no bug here but the change is one that I do not like overly much. Can’t really help a friend level now, can’t eve n truly interact with players that are not almost exactly at your level now unless done by hots and dots.
Im not referring to the fact they removed some of the base value of spells and moved it into spellpower from items.
I’m not casting different ranks of a spell. I’m simply changing the target of the spell to healing a target that is level 24, to healing a target that is level 26. there should be zero impact as nothing about what im casting, or the gear im casting with has changed, my level and stats have not changed. just who I’m targeting.
No gear or talent is available currently that improves incoming healing in any way, so the targets have no other difference than their level. I thought it might be automatically downranking the spell to the lowest available one at that level (similar to how buff spells work). but that is not the case as I tested both a rank 2 and a rank 1 and in both cases the target that was lower level received less healing than the target who was the same level. This is not behavior I’ve seen in any version of wow that I’m aware of.
You brought up good point. It does need to be fixed. System is designed right now currently to where best geared players in the game will make it to where anyone with even slightly less gear will stand zero chance vs them because all the proper level scaling stats now exist within the gear system and not so much the spell and ability rank system. But, things may change later on. I am certain that they may. They do need more realms as well. At least one more cuz so many of us like playing both factions, Blizzard KNOWS this, otherwise they would not have put an achievement in game for very first expac that achieves came out to level a toon of both factions up to max level.
Undead paladins are a very unique thing, dwarf shams already exist in retail. So since UD Pallies are the new thing, most will play that as a paladin and therefore, the Horde version of the one and only PvP ruleset that exists in Forever will be domintated by the Horde.
So they must address the problem you brought up here in this thread and also fix the one server only with different rulesets. Orc shamans are superior to dwarf shamans, especially for enh and for ele, the trolls are better than the dwarf shamans as well. Since dwarf shammies will be at a disadvantage in this version of the game that they are not in for retail, the majority of those who wish to play competitively on a shaman will go Horde. Humans have a good CC breaker but that is mainly only useful for PvP, while all the Horde racials are good for PvP and PvE. And the gear to improve your stats is MAX level epic raiding gear mostly.
Created for this version and this version of the game only to encourage people to do raids in order to get the proper stat balancing that they want. And this will end up doing more harm than good, like how to help a friend level their alt?
This also is being aimed at damage as well so it sounds like someone got wrecked by a lower level player and doesn’t want to that to ever happen again so they created this system.
Dots and Hots still unaffected by this but may be later. First ever patch we will be playing on, A LOT changes from launch to actual gameplay so… don’t expect any of this to be final and stay stuck this way.
Not one word of this makes sense as a responce to what I said.
Not being as capable of healing players at lower levels does not really push me to do raids, (or even high level dungeons).
and damage is not being reduced. If I target a mob that is lower level than i am with a damaging spell. the spell does the same damage reguardless of the targets level (assuming hit and no resists). this is exclusive to healing.
Seems to be an anti boosting feature then as no other reason for such an odd system would exist, but what it is actually going to end up doing is causing it to turn into a truly miserable experience for those of us who want to help our friends level up in content. There has been some talk that they may change or even revert this entirely though so…we shall have to wait and see what happens. If it truly does end up doing more harm than good (and it probably most certainly will), then I am certain that Blizzard will change it in the future. It’s definitely not a good idea to nuke a much needed feature right out of the gate so yea, I’m expecting it to change sometime soon enough. But for now, got to stick it out. WoW does begin at end game tbh.
Dude this is some AI bot churning out nonsense talk. I’ll try and replicate what you are saying when I login next. Same rank spell should heal
For the same amount and not change depending on the level of the character. That is spell auto scaling and if this has been added the devs clearly want forever killed before it starts.
You are right man. They fricking level scaled healing. My direct heals scale horrible but my HoT ticks aren’t scaling that bad. Think druids are in a better place with this right now but hopefully it changes.
Confirming this. I noticed today that (sub level 20 trained) heals are healing dramatically different ranges based on the heal recipient’s level. At least level is the only variable confirmed. This was evident across the entire party, levels 17, 20, 24.
Apparently nobody cares. Imagine dps scaling to your enemies level in pvp. You can’t heal them for an opposing amount they are being dealt as the heals are scaled but dps is not .
