For context: SoD allowed two priests of the opposite faction to join forces and go on a quest chain through each others main cities in order to unlock the ability to change their Priest Racial in a Chapel in Deadwind pass.
This is an amazing way to properly balance Priest racials, while still remaining in the spirit of classic as its a long multi hour long questchain that requires coordination with other players both to complete the quest and keep the chapel light on (Despawns after 8hrs).
Right now as for Horde side PVE meta the go to is Undead due to the Dark Sacrifice racial. As for PVP the meta currently has Troll in the lead primarily due to Shadowguard.
As for Alliance the meta would remain gnome/nelf in both PVE and gnome for PVP due to Escape Artist, Eureka and the two new gnome priest racials which are quite good.
This change would allow others on the Alliance to not feel forced to roll Gnome, but in general would allow Priests of all factions to simply not have to worry about what race to pick due to the Priest racial of all things. I dont believe a repeat of the Dwarf situation from 2019 is what the devs had in mind for Forever.
The questlines code is already in the game since all the SoD runes are, the main change that would need to be done is removing the Binding Heal rune quest pre-requisite and changing the rings craft items to be less expensive.
TLDR: A lot of Priest racial balancing could simply be solved by using the same questchain from SoD.

Thanks, it was amazing in SoD since it allowed others to get Fearward. Was done fairly late into the game but still a welcome change none the less. While fearward is baseline now a lot of Priest racial design could be done on fine tuning rather than force balancing if the racials were just available to all.
I see literally no reason why these things shouldn’t be able to be obtained via quests.

This needs more traction. Human priest racials are way too weak, especially for shadow. This is compounded by the fact that priests can’t use swords. All other races benefit from their base racials already.
At worse Divine Grace needs to be usable on themselves. It is already a huge trade off for shadow to blow a ton of mana dancing shadow form to use it, and it’s a 10 minute cd. Feedback needs some tuning, the mana burn is very low and just gets dispelled.
Middle ground, I agree with OP that we should be able to RP a quest and align with the ones we want.
Best case is a revisit/redesign of the human racials and make them actually worth pressing/usable on self.
Stack the racials for each race in a table and tell me human isn’t shafted.

I think it needs more traction to be honest. Not enough people realize how bad this is needed. What other class has such a severe feast or famine choice?

Glad some others agree, I think its a super simple way to balance priest racials out. It was a welcome change in SoD (although pretty late) but it was still good.
Spread the word and get people talking. We all want this but there isn’t enough talk to get any attention.

I wonder if they will, seems the main changes will be done to actual race racials rather than our Priest racials.
I was slightly surprised that they brought priest racials into forever.
I really think they do need a quest chain to obtain the racial abilities instead of just giving them to specific races. Let you make the choice and then allow you to do some form of a quest chain later on (no exp after you first do them). This also will show them with data which ones are the highest chosen to see what needs to be balanced.
They could make the quests have a cooldown so you’re not just swapping all the time.
Something does need to happen tho. They are very unbalanced at this point.
