Warrior Updates in Today's Beta Build

A number of additional updates for Warriors in WoW Forever made it into today’s new Beta build, and we just added all of the following to our Development Notes for today.

Warrior

  • Additional Rage generated from landing Critical Strikes increased to 100% increased Rage (was 75%).
  • Fixed a bug that was causing Dual Wield Specialization to grant its increase to Hit Chance to both weapons.
  • Developers’ notes: Because of the above bug, our tests needed some correcting, so we did another pass on Fury Warrior.
  • Fury
    • Developers’ notes: Our goal here is to give Fury more access to utility and meaningful choices early in the tree for leveling, and free up points later for more choices instead of being stuck placing points into Enrage to get Flurry.
    • Booming Voice is now a 10/20/30/40/50% increase area of effect to your Shouts and a 5/10/15/20/25% reduction to their Rage costs.
    • Unbridled Wrath no longer grants twice as much Rage to two-handed weapons.
    • New Talent Lingering Rage in Row 2 of Fury. Lingering Rage increases the time before your Rage begins to decay when leaving combat by 2/4/6/8/10 seconds.
    • Blood Craze no longer activates off of Bloodthirst casts.
    • The Improved Cleave talent has been removed.
    • The Boundless Rage talent has been removed.
    • New Talent Furious Precision in Row 3 of Fury. Furious Precision increases your chance to hit with off-hand attacks by 4/7/10%.
    • Raging Blows now reduces the Rage cost of your Cleave and Whirlwind abilities by 3.
    • Raging Blows no longer causes your Whirlwind to strike with your offhand. Whirlwind will now always strike with both weapons without requiring a talent point.
    • Dual Wield Specialization no longer grants hit to your off-hand attacks.
    • Enrage is no longer required to reach the Flurry talent.
    • Death Wish is now required to reach the Flurry talent.
    • New Talent Gore Drinker in Row 6 of Fury, requires the Enrage talent. Your Enrage, Berserker Rage, Bloodrage, Death Wish, and Bloodthirst abilities cause your next 3 melee attacks to restore 0.5/1% of your maximum Health.
    • Improved Berserker Rage moved to Row 5 of Fury (Was Row 6).
    • Berserker Rage is now available at level 30 (Was 32)
    • Bloodthirst’s Attack Power ratio has been increased to 45% (Was 35%).
  • Protection
    • Developers’ notes: Our goal is to give non-shield users a clear path to the middle of the tree, where Protection could serve as a PvP tech secondary specialization, with more access to Improved Bloodrage, Iron Will, Improved Disarm, Last Stand, and Improved Shield Bash.
    • Iron Will moved to the Row 1 of Protection (Was Row 2 of Fury).
    • Anticipation moved to Row 2 (Was Row 1).
    • Toughness has been removed.
    • Improved Bloodrage moved to Row 1 (Was Row 2).
    • Improved Revenge moved to Row 2 (Was Row 3).
    • Improved Disarm moved to Row 3 (Was Row 4).
    • Improved Shield Bash moved to Row 4 (Was Row 5).

will there be racial adjustments? Dwarf is really suffering, as is skyborne compared to Orc

Fury looks like it’s in a good spot. Really pleased to see you fixed the progression through the fury tree! I wasn’t sure how you were going to do it. What you had before was sort of awkward. It’s in a great spot! Fury rage gen looks like it fits the class fantasy at end game.

I hope arms can keep up. It’s not getting any help to deal with the rage normalization.

I guess Arms changes are coming later?

I do hope you figure out that rage normalization is bad.

Otherwise, Lingering rage and anger management are very similar. I suggest you consider moving Anger management to the fury tree, make it a multi point talent and get rid of lingering rage, or rename it lingering rage, then give fury a new ability called Furious strikes which when activated increases rage generated from white damage by 100% for 15 seconds, even if your hits miss or are dodged, blocked, or parried, with a 2 minute cooldown.

Move Piercing Howl to the Arms tree since it fits Arms focus on utility better.

I’ve never understood the point of booming voice, but whatever.

probably gonna be forced to spec both anger management and lingering rage :expressionless_face:

Yeah having two talents so similar to each other that boost rage so close to each other is a recipe for disaster when it comes to the cookie cutter specs.

it can be if I try hard enough

Glad to see these changes, I will be waiting patiently for Arms adjustments.

Rage changes feel pretty good too.

Please make Spearing Strike an entirely different ability. Now that it doesn’t dismount anymore it doesn’t really make sense or justify it’s rage cost on a majority of mobs. It doesn’t really serve a purpose and for a “Gold Ticket” ability it is EXTREMELY underwhelming.

couldnt you at least make booming voice make shouts free like it did in sod. in what world is a 5 point investment worth it to save 2.5 rage. nobody is taking that talent for the aoe increase outside of niche use cases in pvp

Really like the protection tree changes. Feels like you can still be deep prot and also be supportive to a pvp spec. Can’t wait to try both.

I like your style.

Is there a reason, we are not getting the Gladiator stance as a consideration? Maybe even Devastate early for Prot? I know they where not classic abilities, but for my time as a warriors, those builds, especially dual wield devastate for Off Tanking was a lot of fund. I’d prefer more shield dmg with a gladiator stance.

Also in before the Indalamnar “Awesome Warrior Changes”

Maybe we will get gladiator stance, who knows. Berserker stance is a quest, maybe gladiator stance could be a quest too

If you ask me they should make booming voice native and replace it with a dps talent, Perhaps something like:

Dual Striking: your off-hand strikes have a 1/2/3/4/5 percent chance to finish the weapon swing on your main hand weapon. This effect will not miss, and can not be dodge, blocked, or parried.

Good changes
Still awkward that Arms’ 31 point talent is shared with every crocodile pet in the world…

Make Arms Mortal Strike theirs again, give a reason to maybe want an arms warrior in a raid

These are great changes, and I really hope to see some similar iteration coming to Arms soon.

  • Arms is still suffering from a lack of rage to the tune of maybe 30%, though reducing rage costs would be a good alternative to just generating 30+ rage per swing. Something along the lines of 20 rage Mortal Strike and 10-15 rage Sweeping Strike would go a long way to a healthier economy.
  • With the apparent removal of dismounting from Spearing Strike, I feel like the ability warrants a buff, because the current damage:cooldown ratio is kind of pathetic. I’d advocate for at least 70% base / 150% empowered, but if it’s under 100% then Whirlwind will be prioritized ahead of it, so that’s something to consider.
  • Improved Slam is now in a weird position where the second talent point adds extremely little value and probably won’t be taken.
  • Bloodthrill still needs testing, though I’m concerned that if it does not reset the cooldown on Overpower, “lucky” back-to-back procs will end up feeling very unlucky due to being wasted by the cooldown.
  • 30-minute Recklessness is incredibly invasive and results in a bad gameplay experience for everyone involved. Nerf its value however much is necessary to make it happen.
