Actions Taken Against Botting and RMT

Since our previous note on the subject of addressing Real Money Transactions (RMT) in WoW: Forever, we have been continuously actioning accounts that were found to be botting to amass gold in the WoW: Forever Beta, as well as the accounts of those who were found to have purchased or knowingly received illicit gold. We will continue to take action against RMT in both the Beta and the live game after the launch of WoW: Forever.

We will soon add a warning to the game that will appear whenever you trade with strangers. The warning reads:

Be wary of accepting gold from unknown or suspicious sources. If the provider is engaged in Real Money Transactions, you could put your account at risk of closure. Please see the following support article for more information: https://support.blizzard.com/help/article/379634

Our stance on RMT in World of Warcraft is crystal clear: any account belonging to any player that is found to have participated in generating, selling, buying, or receiving illicit gold is subject to the gold being removed, account suspensions, or permanent account closures.

Thank you to every player who has provided feedback on this subject. You’ve participated in making this Beta invaluable to us as we refine our processes around this and many other issues.

Is this just a post to pin to forums to stop all the RMT posts? Seems like it

Keep it up. I like the note to educate. It allows you to be heavier on consequences to accounts.

did you actually ban any of the guilty streamers?

Yes. They did. They banned some, took the gold of others. And, it seems, will do more as needed. Good.

Why? You already have to agree to the EULA and TOS.

Just ban the swipers and ban the bots. I don’t get it. What’s the issue here? Just ban them.

Blizzard just keeps on winning.

Permaban first offense, no appeals.

Trade with level ones at your own risk gold buying losers.

I get it, they are making it easier for them to ignore appeals once they verify.

Removing the overhead early is a smart way to keep it cheap to implement.

I think this is a good thing. I hope it solidifies cases like some debated recent instances and results in actual consequences.

I had no idea that making the same mistake over and over again was considered winning.

yep lmao its sad they’re this spineless just allowing streamers to openly taunt them

They actioned against them. Am I on a different planet?

Tell me how banning gold buyers is bad Gurni.

what about all the RMT spam in game chat? is anything actually being done with all my reports?

You were able to report? I kept getting messages the feature wasn’t available.

Allowing it to happen in every single version of their game for decades and then only giving reactionary bans after outrage. They’ve done this so many time I’ve lost count.

So if Ziqo goes live tonight and isn’t banned, I can safely ignore this?

They suspended the streamer that stirred this up all up to this level.

No need to be so pessimistic.
