Blizzard. We get it. You want the game to be beautiful and attractive. But we’re not all streamers and our health matters. All you care about is for the game to be beautiful on Twitch streams? Seriously, I can’t play the game like this. It takes less than a minute to star hurting my eyes. And the more I play, the more it hurts. Allow us to adjust the graphics to our needs. I can’t believe I’m asking this in 2026.
and they succeded!
that’s too bad it hurts your eyes, but why does the fog do that?
Reminds me of Path of Exile, a huge years long debate where players want to disable shadows for increased fps, but the devs say “No, it is The Artist’s Vision that the game has shadows.” (meanwhile the entire screen is a pulsing disco ball of spell effects and death and no one can see anything regardless.)
Seems we’re bumping heads with the same overwhelming egos at Blizzard.
They’re probably super proud of the fog, and very nervous that the bulk of the playerbase is fatigued with it.
They even disabled the ability to remove fog. The first week of beta was so nice. What egomaniacs.
I was trying to find a place to submit a few screenshots of how bad the fog looks on my current setup. Please give us back the console command, it was perfect with “/console volumefog 0”
Probably used cheat codes to clear fog of war in wc2 too huh. Lame!
there should be fog for everyone
players shouldn’t have to turn off fog just to level the playing field with others
That is a wild take. At that point why have ANY settings at all? This is like saying we shouldnt be able to reduce environmental clutter because players that have it high will be at a disadvantage when looking for quest objects on the ground to click. View distance? Nah man, that’s an unfair advantage.
It sure would be nice to get an official acknowledgement of this issue by the devs. I feel like they live in a vacuum, and never even come to the forums or listen to the chat in-game. People are begging for torches just so they can see the mobs before they’re right on top of them.
I would also like to see screenshots from those who are having issues with the fog. It could be an actual issue with the graphics rendering and not be due to personal taste.
that’s exactly how the game should be
you’re so right. we could do without most of them. why should someone who plays on a potato pc with settings at min have an advantage seeing quest items over someone who’s running the game at max settings?
I think its either 1 of the 3:
- some people are overreacting,
- some people dont know how to adjust the games brightness, gamma and contrast,
- some people are actually having issues with their client bugging and causing issues.
So unless they post screenshots, its almost impossible to help or confirm there is an issue or not.
I’m more and more convinced that it’s about the ability to see another player more clearly before they can see you.
too many posts running the same rhetoric, ‘omg hurts my eyes, headaches, accessibility’
maybe i’m too suspicious of them but something just feels off
Yea, something is up.. But without screenshots its hard to tell who is actually having an issue or blowing smoke up our bumm..
My display is color calibrated (including brightness and gamma) because I do photography. So I am more likely to see things as the devs intended. But I also do not fully trust my display and always reference the histogram when retouching photos. So if someone is actually having problems, they need to post a screenshot or how are we going to be able to see what is going on.
Fog was a cool idea but the game looks better without it. Allow us to disable it (again).
to be honest i like the new water, i like the new lighting. sometimes it does make it so you cant see anything though, and the fog i was like neutral with it /shrug but i do think they overused it like does it have to be in every area 100% of them?
If you think it is that then i will GLADLY accept them only having the setting to reduce it on non-pvp rulesets, seeing as how i dont care about pvp in the slightest. I just want to be able to play the game without feeling sick after an hour, something that is not an issue with any other game. Before you ask, yes i have messed with every setting that could possibly influence the fog and lighting. This is literally the single biggest issue I have with the game at the moment. If they had to launch tomorrow with only one change in the entire game, I would want it to be for this. That is how bad it is.
it’s seems quite strange that only SOME people are experiencing this.
if it was as bad as you consider it to be, no one would be playing the game and we’d all be on ibuprofen right now.
i will admit that I hope that I am wrong and this is a legitimate issue for some people, in which case I hope it is solved so they can play the game. The alternative is that some people are just so despicable as to disguise their need for an advantage into some sort of a medical or accessibility issue, which i find both disturbing and disgusting, especially considering that there are people with real accessibility issues out there that deserve such attention and consideration.
I PROMISE you that they could delete pvp entirely from the game and i would not care. I do not care whatever unfair advantage you think I would be getting by not having to strain my eyes. I care about being able to play the game without feeling sick. If the fog is not an issue for you personally, that’s great, but let’s not act like people are the same. You seem like the kind of person that would just flat out not believe anyone with an illness or disability that you can not physically see, and that is what is disgusting to me. If you don’t want to be that kind of person stop acting like it. I shouldn’t have to give you my medical history for you to believe that the fog is a genuine issue for the people complaining about it.
what is the name of your physical illness or disability? was it profesisonally diagnosed?
Way to prove my point immediately. Yes, it was professionally diagnosed.
