In an interview with Windows Central, WOW Forever developer Tim Jones confirmed his desire to bring retail’s player housing system into Wow Forever, with a classic twist.
This is completely unacceptable. Player housing has no place in WOW Forever. It’s a terrible system. It pollutes the loot table for drops and quest rewards. It does not encourage socialisation, it will spawn MTX and it is very poorly implemented in retail.
We need to make it very clear to the developers that these retail systems are anithetical to WOW Forever, and need to be kept out at all costs.
The “in my opinion it’s unacceptable” is implied, because this is a discussion forum.
Do you know what 'implied" means?
The problem is that
a) it takes developer resources away from actual content
b) you get spammed with housing drops, and they make housing drops rewards
c) it spawns MTX
There’s two types of people who would say this:
People with no interest in player housing and what it offers thus making a qualitative opinion about any one particular type of player housing largely moot … and insane people.
The system that exists on retail is, unironically, one of the best housing systems that exist for instanced housing. It is fairly compared to and described as a Palia-lite version for Pete’s bleeding sake!
Only way to “improve” it further (outside of providing us the few missing tools required to for an example be able to copy and paste parts of a build) would be to make it non-instanced, albeit at that point you are also talking about a vastly different type of MMO-function and structure it would be part of.
Housing is one of those features that is “evergreen” but the players using the content is limited. How many people are still playing Lego’s with their house now? It’s not very interactive with the world.
Take from the private servers that they shut down, add guild houses across the world. Tabard is a teleport to your guild house. Guild houses cost money. Add some sort of vendor, or guild bank to the guild house. Stays within the pillar of being in the world and socializing.
