[BUG]Crit damage is reduced by half against players

Please fix.
None of these weird hidden scalars or hidden aura adjustments. Let the game be the game, no weird wonky unknown and unmentioned values or effects from PvE to PvP.

Please let this be a bug.

If crit damage isreduced by half then that’s a great thing for PvP. Keep it in.

It affects some classes disproportionately more than others - rot/steady damage ones will thrive and ones whose win condition is burst will be severely nerfed.

Rogue/warr/hunter have a lot of talents based around crit and increased critical damage. A 50% nerf to crits unbalances these talents.

I came to Forever just for PVP and I’m not playing a version with “nerfed in PVP” abilities

DoTS can crit now, so affliction and shadow priest would be absolutely broken in PvP. They do also get effected with 50% crit damage reduction. It also will help keep warriors in line with how obscenely broken they always are.

You are going to be disappointed my friend. I was also looking forward to some more balanced pvp in forever, but it looks like blizzard is all but openly stating that they dont’ give a crap about it. But i also have to mention, vanilla PvP was the worst version of PvP we’ve ever seen, and I don’t want vanilla PvP. IT was god awful. Something needed to change.

Their dots can crit but they don’t rely on big crits to get kills. As MM hunter for example my win condition is to get 2 big crits in a row.

I know vanilla WoW PVP was bad, but that’s what I wanted in Forever - to mindlessly one shot and be one shotted in turn and all would be good. If I wanted nerfed crits and balanced PVP, I could play retail…

I don’t think thats what most people want. This is blizzards chance to actually fix all the faults that vanilla had and make a really decent game with the classic vanilla undertones.

If you want mindless vanilla pvp, era is still there with the same crappy PvP system.

Can you provide more information about this?

What spell or ability did this occur with?

What was the expected damage value and actual damage value?

What was the target?

Did you or the target have any talents, gear, or other effects that would affect this?

Where were you when this occurred?

Is this occurring with every spell and ability, or just some of them?

It’s common knowledge at this time, tested by many players myself included and streamers too.

Melee crits are only 50% stronger, spell crits are only 25% stronger.

I personally tested on my hunter with auto shot and arcane shot and confirmed the 50% instead of 100% crit damage.

Just duel anybody in front of orgrimmar and ask them to stay still and test

this is how retail works so probably not a bug
never heard of spells only being 25% tho

All abilities on all targets I’ve encountered in PvP. Spells are doing like 130% damage and melee attacks doing about 150%, give or take some RNG.

Happens everywhere, Redridge, the barrens, elwynn, westfall, etc.

Does it occur in duels?

Yep that is the most reliable time to test it and verify.

Auto attacks hitting for 45-60, crits for 70-90 instead of 90-120, for example.

This make crit chance much less useful in PvP. 50% less powerful. All the sudden racials such as Elune’s Light (10% crit chance for 15 secs) do not seem that great.

if this is an intended change it is a mistake.

perhaps they wanted dots to only crit for 25% more, that would make more sense

Would it though? Dots should still do 50% more damage. It’s how spells work, and there are talents to increase it to 100% more.

There’s no reason that this behavior should change based on pvp or pve. It’s a weird and unneeded change.

no i meant like 25% all the time for dots, pvp or pve. since they couldn’t in the past and would turn dot classes into OP monsters with 50% now, perhaps 25% is a solid compromise to make crit a decent stat for them.

but the distinction between values in pvp and pve needs to go. in fact, it should never have arrived in the first place

I agree that DoTs should crit for less. They are too easy to apply and reapply (since most of them are instant cast) and therefore bypass a caster’s main weakness, which is to sit still to hardcast, which makes them vulnerable to damage and pushback.

Running and DoTing circumvents those weaknesses, so it not fair for DoTs to be doing as much crit as a hardcast ability.

Which leads me to my next bug – Ranged attacks and Spells DO NOT inflict spell pushback…

Very bad change. If you want smoothed out damage and prolonged fights play retail. I was coming to Forever to farm a giant 2 hander to 1 shot people with on my Enh Sham. If I can’t do that there’s really no point.

pretty much what I was saying

Good luck playing enhance/warrior/MM/sub if your crits will be nerfed by 50% and attrition classes can eat you away slowly and you can’t burst anybody
