Starting a druid and it feels incredibly weak - am i doing something wrong?

So since high elves for some wierd reason can’t be priests, I decided to try a druid with the intention of going heals.

This is #3. I’ve leveled both a hunter and a mage to 20. Druid I kinda tapped out at 10. It just felt so weak. Half the damage (or less) of what the other classes hit for. I just got frustrated to the point of wanting to put it down and “play a class that actually works”

So this tells me that one of two things is likely true:

  1. i’m doing something very wrong.

  2. the class actually IS weak.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If I remember correctly, Druid doesn’t really come online until Cat form. Before that, it’s miserable.

I notice the druid is very weak too. Especially in the skyborne starting area. Too many interrupts, stuns, heals. On one of the rebel healer elves I had a 10 minute healer duel, I had no burst or interrupt to really combat their healing and it barely hit their mana pool while nearly fully healing them.

It seems like wrath is just very lowly tuned. Seems like most creatures had a resist to nature. I think I missed like at least 10% of the spells (and that is painfully expensive when a spell costs so much of your mana pool). And there was the bird thing that gives you like a 20% chance to miss debuff. Those mobs in the starting zone would fit much better in a 20-30 zone. Until I got bear form and could melee with some real power, it was a grind. None of the other zones I’ve tried had nearly as many tough mobs.

The druid was weaker in the early levels in classic. There is no going around that.

The new weapon scaling might even exacerbate that a little bit… but it will quickly correct itself when you get a decent weapon.

I just got the bear form and it was meleeing for like 10-15 damage. It felt like I had no teeth and was trying to gum things to death.

Bigger question though.. is a druid healer worth even pursuing or is it better to make a priest even if that means I can’t go elf?

[Edit]: in regard to my comment about bear feeling like I was gumming things to death: this was due to the feral combat skill being at 0. It got better.

It’s very bad. I believe around 10 my druid was doing 15-20 per wrath while my mage was doing 45-55 per frostbolt/fireball.

It also took me out of it, I was frustrated and stopped at level 11 TBH. Which hilariously I did in Era a few months back. So it felt similar there. I was pumped about Bear and it stayed a slog.

Druid forms scale with weapons now… so if you have a bad weapon it will feel bad in comparison to the classic(where it did not scale based on weapon)

Wrath does 1/5th of the dmg of other class’s abilities it seems. Wrath is your #1 dmg ability before bear form at lvl 10. On my mage I NUKE things when fireball with 50, 55, 60 dmg, then wrath is like 20…14…21…16… Granted it takes less mana, but not enough less mana to warrant so much less dmg.

I get there’s “hybrid tax” and whatnot, but I thought Forever was supposed to change that a bit.

A solution I think that works is like a 50% dmg buff to wrath early on and it tapers off slowly until you get Starfire at 20 (for those going boomkin instead of cat to lvl).

Yeah… i was wondering about their whole “all specs will be viable” thing.. If druid healers really will be playable.

And yeah. If they make the early levels of a class so punishing that people are noping out by level 10, that is a problem.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t be playable, they were playable in OG vanilla and classic. They seem to have been buffed to keep in line with other healers at endgame. I know we can’t truly test it rn, but endgame healing looks fine to me. I don’t even have an issue healing parties from 13-20.

The only people noping out are people who don’t already know what they wanna play. Druids have diehard loyal players who will choose them even thought the pre-20 game is rough. I don’t think they intentionally made pre-20 druid a slog though, I think they just tuned it for endgame and the early game got shafted unintentionally. I do think early druid needs a buff, but it shouldn’t affect endgame numbers which might be fine for all we know. (I’m really hoping endgame druid is okay lol)

Yeah. I am willing to put up with it because elf. Priest would have to be human. But if the endgame isn’t worth the struggle. idk

I don’t disagree with you, but why does your priest have to be human?

Because high elf can’t be priest right now.

They nerfed spells because they want casters to feel “rewarded” for getting new weapons and gear with spell power but they forgot to add the spell power gear at the beginning of the game.

Wrath does feel very weak right now. Or maybe the other casters are feeling too strong. Hard to know.

All spells were nerfed across the board, all casters feel awful at the beginning.

The first 10 levels of a druid, until you get bear form, are god awful. Then next 10 before you get cat form are ever so slightly less god awful. 20+ ZOOOOOOM

Is a high elf druid’s cat form basically a prideclaw?

It kinda looks like a fox

oh neat. I was assuming it was the “cat” from the starter island.
