So I see a lot of people mentioning threads about Ray Traced Shadows not working even though they meet the requirements.
I think even though they developed their own raytracer for WoW: Forever, it isn’t fully functioning, or some zones are not currently functioning like Darkshire/Duskwood.
I can’t post images here right, but if you see the images from the panel with shadows and light rays illuminating the fog in Duskwood and it being dark and eerie in Darkshire, that isn’t happening right now, and I have tested it at all times of the day and night, and my settings were set to all high, and then cranked to the absolute maximum. Nothing changed, the fog just looks like a milky haze over darkshire, and whether day or night, it doesnt get dark or eerie.
Hopefully the devs can enlighten us as to what is going on if it is in fact not working properly, and how to get our game to look like the slides from Blizzcon if it is working.
FYI this is not to say that all graphical improvements aren’t working. Many are. But Clearly when it comes to the fog and god rays, at the very minimum in Darkshire/Duskwood, it’s not as shown at Blizzcon.

Given the uh, various framerate issues, memory leaks, settings issues, and GPUs just not being used properly in some cases I’ve seen posted here, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just straight up a combination of factors coming together to result in “It doesn’t look like it should”. Hopefully they get it working for launch. Also I am insanely jealous of being able to run everything on Ultra. /cries in poor

LOLLL I wouldn’t run everything in Ultra. Most times Ultra is for Screenshots in gaming, and High is for looking great and playing with great perf. But I boosted to Ultra because I wanted to see if it made a difference and it didn’t.
I have to agree that it is likely a combo of things, it could also be that not all the zones are working as intended either. Some may be and others may not. So many variables, but all I know is they won’t fix it if we don’t tell em!
The memory leak definitely has me stumped. Because in many games a memory leak will appear either in your task manager for your Ram, increasing use over time. Or your GPU Memory fills up and then boom crash. but here 3-4gb ram solid, gpu is holding at 8gb out of 16gb. SO totally confused…maybe it’s server side who knows.
