So I got Warrior to Level 20 (and other things)

So I got Warrior to Level 20 on Forever. Along the way I leveled up Cooking, Herbalism, Alchemy, First Aid, and Fishing. I also cleared the Hall of Thane’s dungeon several times to see what kind of loot was on offer in there without looking it up and to try and get an idea of what was in store for us players at later levels. Adding Victory Rush to Warrior at level 20 is great. You get it late enough that fresh Warriors will learn to properly estimate how much they can handle without a healer that it feels like real boon to your ability to adventure through the world.

Warrior: It’s only the first 20 levels. It’s not like we’re getting into the real meat and potatoes of the classes just yet. But I will say that with the changes to existing items and the new loot on offer that Warrior feels really solid and fun to play. Which is is heart warming to me as I mained Warrior in Retail for 16 years.

Professions: My one negative with the professions I leveled so far is I find it really very weird that First Aid is now what makes Healing Potions. Especially when they still require you to have Herbalism materials in order to craft them. It makes it feel like if I hadn’t also chosen to be an Alchemist that I would have effectively only had half a profession available to me. I would revert this change personally.

The rest of the changes? Absolutely love them. The Fishing Bowl for Fishing is awesome. I’m already an addicted Fisher in any game I play. But being able to show up and be the guy with the free Kings buff is awesome. First Aid, Alchemy, and Herbalism’s Camp Decor items are all great too. The new UI is simplified and very intuitive in my opinion. Flipping through the tabs is much smoother than the old system. I also really like that Cooking now has the food categorized based on what buffs it gives (or if it doesn’t give any).

Hall of Thane’s
I really enjoyed this dungeon. The quests were unique but still felt like a quest I would have picked up back in 2004. The rewards were nice and felt worth the effort required to obtain them. The dungeon felt very Vanilla to me. Again like it would have been something I would have experienced back in 2004. The mobs having different types of debuffs made it a great beginner’s dungeon to teach Healers, and Mages, to dispell. The explosives sitting near packs of mobs as an easy way for Tanks to pull was a great way to teach players to think outside the box too. I won’t spoil the secrets in this dungeon but the two secrets were also very nice touches that felt appropriately rewarding.

Closing Notes: So far I’m really impressed with WoW: Forever and I’m looking forward to exploring the other classes. I’m hoping to get everything to level 20 before our level cap is raised. Oh and please please please give us Night Elf Paladins. They make perfect sense within the lore without needing to really add much. So please add them to Forever.

Don’t worry you’ll be the only person playing a warrior if they don’t change some of their decisions.

Rage generation from hits is the same regardless of if you crit or not, and is intended. Arms is totally dead, fury is probably dead. Until they realize how bad it is anyway.

Current calculations have rage per second at 4.5-7. I’m sure it will be very fun auto attacking for ~4.5 seconds (at best) to cast mortal strike :dracthyr_lulmao:

Thanks for the first hand info.

I envy your free time!

I haven’t really looked into any of this so I can’t really speak to it one way or another. At the current level cap it feels fine though.

Good rundown. I’m really enjoying it, too. Though tanking RFC was chaotic; more often than not, I would lose threat 1 second after taunting a mob. Took me a minute to get back into stance dancing, too, gonna need more practice with that.

But overall, Warrior feels good in Forever. With a bit more rage gen it’ll be primo. Just need some Mighty Rage Potions lol.

I don’t really see the Minor Healing Potions being a big deal, given we out grow them so fast.

Also, this new faction “Durotar Supply and Logistics” (“Azeroth Commerce Authority” for ally) looks interesting, looking forward to learning more about it.

Lol have you seen the ele tree yet?

Dead spec

I would agree with you if it was just the Minor Healing Potions. But it’s actually, from what I can tell, all of the Healing Potions that can be crafted have shifted over to First Aid from Alchemy.

Thank you for the first hand info for those of us on the outside looking in. It’s refreshing to see a perspective that isn’t doom and gloom for once.

Also I support nelf pallies. No interest in playing one, but I got what I wanted (undead pallies) so why not share?

It looks good for pvp atleast with earthbind root. Arms isn’t even chalked anymore. The rain washed the outline of arms’ corpse away.

Spec is hopeless without a complete redesign lol

We lost ele mastery and the lava burst isn’t even the wrath one where it crits on flameshock. We have zero on demand burst lol

I’m noticing a trend where it’s like they’re trying to make classes even more bland than era lol

Classes are simpler and more straightforward. They’re not meant to be high paced simon says machines like they are on Retail.

I didn’t say like retail, I said they were flattened out even harder than era

The literal classic era ele talent tree is better than forever for some reason

Where do you get this idea I even play retail?

You said Ele Mastery so I assumed you were talking about the Passive you get from the Mastery Stat in retail. Truth be told I’ve never really played Shaman ever so I don’t know what it’s like in Vanilla/Era. But if you have that much a problem with it you should make a thread outlining your issues and how you think they could be fixed.

Ele mastery has been a thing for most of shamans 21 years of wow, it’s changed over time but it’s always been a thing

It was removed and replaced with nothing. Lava burst base damage is barely higher than lightning bolt, has a cooldown, doesn’t auto crit on flame shock, and doesn’t synergize with half of the ele tree

Enjance looks better, but if there is no dual wield, maelstrom weapon won’t be as good as it usually is

Also 20 warrior.

Without running the dungeons they feel the same or maybe a bit worse than classic.

However the dungeon gear from quest rewards and drops is so good it’s counteracting the “lack of gear” aspect.

Having close to or above 1000 HP before going into Deadmines gives you a lot more health to be able to fight multiple mobs.

I also worry about how the gear in those dungeons is going to affect your ability to sell greens on the AH to earn some coin early on - which makes people less likely to buy tanking abilities etc.

Depending on how mob damage and health gets adjusted based on the gear increase will largely change how it feels later on.

I do think that given the nerfed XP to dungeons though they should probably dramatically reduce the respec cost at low level to allow people to experiment.

It feels like we have slightly more $ from the quest rewards, but the profession training is eating that up.

I think it’s fine if we had the option of 1-2 cheap respecs to be able to try out alternative options as the talent points open up - particularly since the prot early talents are purely focused on shields.

Which with the 2hs on offer as quest rewards from thane / lorderon feels like a questing nerf if you wanted to try it. I’ve not seen all the drops but both dungeons have guaranteed 2hs from quests.

So if you wanted to respec to try out sword and board for a dungeon it just feels like you’re being punished. Particularly with new racials increasing crit with weapons / on use - as 5% brings you up to 11/12% or more.

In general I would expect this to be the same for a lot of classes with impactful 11 point talents etc. Do you take early talents that might work out better, or are you only focus on that 3rd tier.

TLDR - warrior feels good with gear - close to classic without.
Would be nice to drop respec costs down since we’re going into dungeons earlier (and poorer with profession training costs) from 1g ->5g to 10s → 50s → 1g etc.
