Arcane Crystals & Black Market Auction House

Good evening, and hello day.. 3/4? Of forever!

Did some exploring today, and loved every minute of it!
The only concerns I had today was Powderfuse’s black market auction house, and the vendor next to it.

  1. BMAH → Are you planning to have this auction house have the dungeon tier 1 set at launch, or will the auction house have it later on in the game? (It currently has devout on it)

  2. Arcane Crystals → The vendor next to the BMAH sells Arcane Crystals for 50g each, with no limit. My question is how in depth is your prevention of gold buying going to be? As Arcane Crystals are needed for Thunderfury & Sulfuras; and traditionally are rare mined materials that sell for a pretty penny. Not to mention several other resources on the vendor, all of them for 50g.

That’s it! Happy forever everyone

The OP is 100% right to flag this, and having unlimited crafting materials on an NPC vendor is a massive red flag for the game’s economy.

ITT: two people looking at perpetual gold sinks that don’t understand what theyre looking at

A server thats going to exist FOREVER needs ways to consistently remove gold from the economy to counteract inflation.

Every sulfuras is 2500 gold removed from the economy. Every thunderfury is 5000. Every paladin with his Charger is 300.

I hope they do it with Lotus too.

calling a vendor that sells infinite legendary materials a “healthy gold sink” is peak reddit economics. you aren’t sinking gold, you’re creating a massive incentive for gold buying because the most prestigious legendaries in the game (thunderfury and sulfuras) just turned into a straight raw gold checkout basket. congratulations on learning the phrase “gold sink” yesterday, but replacing actual gameplay loops with an npc shop window completely ruins an mmo economy.

On the other hand, having rare materials like arcane crystals and black lotus on a vendor prevents a few players from controlling the supply and making them cost hundreds or thousands of gold each.

Haha I called it reddit that means I win

If you have to resort to internet buzzwords, you lost before you started typing. I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you weren’t trolling when I replied once. Now youre going in the forever box

the classic “i have no actual counter-argument so i’m putting you on ignore” victory lap

you dropped a drive-by one-liner pretending to be an economic genius, got called out on how an infinite mat vendor completely guts gathering professions and fuels gold buying, and your immediate reaction is to plug your ears, announce to the whole thread that you’re hitting the ignore button, and scurry away.

enjoy the “forever box” my guy. hope the vendor has a discount on critical thinking while you’re in there.

Something to note is that the materials aren’t removed from their regular sources as far as we know; the 50g sets the upper price for the material; anyone who finds them has to sell it below that price. If 50g is too low due to inflation they can change the vendor price as needed, but making it impossible for someone to control the supply of rare materials is good for the economy. I am pretty sure they don’t intend for the vendor to be the primary source of the materials.

At worst, if it doesn’t work well they can remove them from the vendor.

It’s not to prevent gold buying directly, but it puts a cap on what the bot mafia can sell them for. The point is to keep the economy in check.

Oh hey guys!
I guess it didn’t come off right, but, I was trying to imply that this would incentivize buying the gold, rather than stimulating the economy buy purchasing it from players.

Um, I think someone mentioned Lotus? I went back to the vendor, and here is the entire list of items available and their gold prices.
→ Pristine Leather 5g → Death Lotus 50g.
→ Stranglevine 50g → Frilled Lichen 5g.
→ Pyrite 5g → Bauxite 20g.
→ Fel Crystal 50g → Torbernite 50g.
→ Pitchblende 50g → Rosecap 20g.
→ Pristine Hide 20g → Pristine Scale 50g.
→ Black Lotus 50g → Arcane Crystal 50g.

These are all green level resources, and I am assuming the new one(s) are for some end game crafts?

Unique item epic
→ Gift of Galloping 150g, → Increases mounted movement speed by 10%, stacking with all other mounted movement speed bonuses, lasts 15 days real time.

Sorry for any discourse I caused, I was just trying to raise a question >.<

Is an Authority approved black market a real black market?

Anyways, I think that it is a good thing.

I don’t see how it would encourage gold buying over just using the ah?

I guess what I mean to say is in anniversary we saw the price of black lotus hit 150g at one point.

If there is a place to just buy them at 50g a pop then ah prices cant significantly exceed that price.

If black lotus is cheaper than what the bot mafia would otherwise charge them that is less incentive to buy gold, not more incentive.

But the point isn’t about gold buying. Blizz already says they will aggressively punish gold buying. I hope the follow through with that.

The point is to keep the economy from running amok

They said they will PERMA ban gold buyers.

No more slaps on the wrist.

They nerfed dungeon xp , destroyed mage aoe , nerfed boosting and removed gdkp’s all in there ridiculous crusade against rmt …

Then they add a vendor with unlimited high end mats for gold and mount speed % increase …

This is the literal definition of encouraging rmt then ? if all the other things they claim encouraged it then this is also.

Blizzard are so out of touch with reality its a joke.
