I’m only level 6 so far, but i can already tell the damage taken while questing is far too low, the world doesn’t feel dangerous.
Granted, yes, i am only level 6 but i have fond memories of getting my butt kicked by the gnarlpine of starbreeze village in Teldrassil only for them to hit me for like 5 damage on forever, and i have almost 200 hp as a rogue, I’ve pulled 2 or 3 at a time and walked away basically unscathed,
for me i feel like player damage taken should be upped a but before release. it just doesn’t feel dangerous like it should, especially if we want professions like cooking and first aid to feel meaningful

They’re doing 5 damage when you have 200 health? Ugh. This game is going to be so boring

Thankfully it’s only beta. i’m hoping other people agree, because as it stands they added a whole campsite mechanic for buffs and they want professions to feel more important, but if i’, not in any danger out questing then why would i even bother

Blizzard doesn’t have a good track record of making necessary changes to their betas
but we’ll see
The first 10 levels is when people are learning to play the game and their class. It’s fine. It gets harder after that. And particularly harder with cave and elite quests. Maybe reserve judgment about stuff like this for 10+.

Play the game and their class???
First this is classic +, 99% of the playerbase already knows the game,
Second, you have 1-2 abilities
Third, this is GOING to translate to later levels. you using cave and elite quests as an example is not it, those were dangerous FOR groups, not just “cant solo, but easy with a group”
Yea but I have very rarely encountered massive changes between beta and true release. They probably have a few thousand people all making suggestions. They do not have the time or the resources to deal with them all. Highly unrealistic to expect any gaming company to fix all their beta bugs, yea they may fix some of the major ones, but other than that, it will release a bit not up to what everyone wants it to be. Some will like it, others will not.
I can hope since this falls within their “pillars” that was the pull of classic, now i get this isn’t a classic recreation but that danger feeling in the world was literally a driving factor in making everything about the “journey” meaningful, better buffs, loot, preparation, all of it made it slightly less dangerous for a few levels so it felt impactful, getting that last minute lucky crit which deals 40% of the mobs hp when you’re at 10% hp and killing the mob is a priceless feeling

It’s quite literally “you’re only level 6”. There’s a noticeable spike as a rogue around level 9, and then again at 12

I have the theory that the starting levels are going to be super easy mode as they do not want to scare away potential new gamers coming into this. New or returning players aren’t going to like putting max effort into killing a single bear just to get a piece of fur that sells for a copper and clogs up their inventory and caused them to go oom from fighting it.
They want results from their work. May just be a starting zone issue anyways.

It’s quite literally, i’ve played classic and vanilla, and i never was able to waltz into starbreeze village and commit genocide in Classic or vanilla

Dude, there are going to be people who jump straight into Forever, not bothering with Classic or retail. And the first 10 levels only last a couple to a few hours. There is such a thing as onboarding from a game development standpoint.
The game is perfectly fine past that point. It quite literally feels like vanilla as someone who played it.

1-5 is really forgiving. After that it gets tougher depending on your class. The squishier you are, the more getting it hurts lol
Sounds like you’ve gotten better at the game. Congratulations

Starbreeze is a notorious wipe spot. 5 damage is not right. Those things should be hitting easily around 20 on white and crits for 40+, wearing leather armor. I’d be interested to know how it is in classic. I only know pre-official classic, private servers.

Right!? Imagine improving at something you have been doing for 20 years…

Are we forgetting that vanilla is infamous for spikes across different level brackets?
People hit level 10, go to Westfall, and get obliterated the second they pull more than 1 mob.
i have a rogue alt and while i agree the damage done is relatively low, the fights themselves dont last that long. also, getting out of 2-3 mob pulls with maybe just a scratch also feels wrong.
that being said though, rogue by itself is a fantastic class. that one quest for getting lord melenas’s head in classic is marked as a lvl7 quest while the melenas himself is a lvl8 mob and comes with mandatory 1 add. you can do this quest like a breeze right at lvl7 with absolutely no difficulty at all. whereas for a druid - as a comparison - you basically can’t do that quest at lvl8 or even 9 without coming to the brink of death (and dying as well) cuz you just can’t take 2 mobs at the same time as a druid.
the point im making is, sure they can ramp up enemy damage a bit but rogue as a class is superior even in early classic levels. so naturally its bound to be very very good in forever as well.
