Forever Beta crashes immediately on launch — BEX64 / dbghelp.dll / 0xC0000005

WoW Forever Beta crashes immediately on startup before displaying a window.

When I click Play in Battle.net, WowB.exe appears in Task Manager for approximately 1–2 seconds and then terminates. The same thing happens when launching WowB.exe directly from the classic_beta folder.

Windows Reliability History reports:

Problem Event Name: BEX64
Faulting Application: WowB.exe
Faulting Module: dbghelp.dll
Exception Code: 0xc0000005
Exception Offset: 0x0000000000000110
Locale ID: 1033

Troubleshooting already attempted:

  • Scan and Repair
  • Complete uninstall and reinstall of the Forever Beta
  • Updated NVIDIA graphics drivers
  • Multiple PC restarts
  • Multiple battlnet restarts including logging out and back in
  • Directly launching WowB.exe, both with battlenet opened and closed
  • Updated pc’s security program
  • Installed latest Forever Beta update

None of these changed the behavior. Other versions of WoW launch and run normally on the same PC.

Each attempted launch also creates a new timestamped folder under classic_beta\Errors containing an empty crash.txt file.

The Forever Beta never reaches a visible game window; WowB.exe terminates almost immediately after launch.

Having same issue since yesterday

Hi there! I was having this issue as well and was able to get in after:

  • Making sure WoW was closed in task manager
  • Deleting the cache WoWB_Loader.dll and Cache folders for _Classic_beta_ (Unsure if this was the actual fix, but I found that WoW was running when I attempted the deletion)

I deleted those files and still no dice :frowning:

I too am in the club on error folder no lauch or joy

I have found no credible posts about general fixes that work for everyone. So I still can’t launch. I’ve tried a few things individuals claimed worked for them, but did not solve my problem.

This didn’t work, gave me an error message when I tried to launch again. Had to reinstall.

I’ve managed to get in, made an exception in my antivirus for it and it seemed to work even though it wasn’t reporting that it was blocking it

this worked for me

this worked. specifically I added an exception for the entire WoW folder and that fixed the problem.
