Client was also crashing my Mac as soon as game loaded (blue bar full). I could hear the music of the game + narration of starting zone. Saw a fix on Reddit:
Turn “SECONDARY LIGHTING” to “FAIR” in graphics settings at the character screen.
Worked instantly for me.
@BLIZZARD - looks like it may be isolated and a (hopefully) easy fix?
I’ll have to give it a shot on my MBAir (I think it’s the same as yours, but I upgraded it to 27, so I wonder if there’s something in the new software that’s causing issues for Blizzard) sometime then to check on that one. I’ll be traveling then, so that’s what I’ll be using at launch.
This also worked on my Fedora Linux system running through Steam. Once in game turning the setting up one notch seemed fine, max crashed my FPS to the ground
On my Mac Studio M3 Ultra w/ 96GB of Ram, I can zone in to Skyborne starting area at graphics level 2 but then if I change graphics to 10 after that my whole Mac reboots…
Is it not a solution fyi… it’s just one of the major bugs the Mac beta client has at the moment. It works for some and not others, depending on the machine / macOS they are running, it may or may not be a workaround.
Personally it made zero noticeable difference on my Mac Studio. Everything I reopen the game app, everything is green. I reset the “default” graphic settings and the green issue is gone. But then the issues I am having is very low fps regarding of settings, random black shadows of myself (other players and npc’s) / black water / black distance, basically a lack of textures.
the Mac also did hard lock / freeze up a few times as well, needing a power cycle. Something it never does.
Welcome to beta! Just need blizzard to acknowledge the issues and hopefully it will be fixed in a few days to a week.
it is nice to see the Mac community so live in the forums!
