In one of my favorite zones, Westfall. I have to say I am saddened to see so much grey in the horizon. This zone used to be so vibrant and colorful. It must be all the light scattering, but all it is doing is making the zone look grey and dull. Please figure out a way to make the fog not have this draw back. I am all for improving graphics, but I do not think this grey haze was intended.
hmm I wonder if one of the graphics options being set to low would take that fog away and allow you to see it like it is in Classic? can you confirm? Maybe the volumetric graphics option?
There’s a console command (/console volumefog 0) that allows you to disable the fog. It fixes the whitewashing, but you lose a ton of the benefit of the new lighting system since it relies heavily on the fog to scatter the light.
There’s a constant haze over mulgore too, even close to your character. I truly hope they put in an option to disable it so the clear zones are clear. The fog is nice, but it’s way over saturated which sucks for myself as it causes headaches/migraines due to eye strain
going to see if that console command helps out, thanks for the info
Yeah I would rather play with everything as intended, but I’m just providing feedback so maybe they can adjust things on their end. They can play with the fog density and tint settings to help it align more to the original classic color scheme without all the grey.
Yeah I did a walk between elwynn and riverglades and the amount of fog was a little too much, especially at 3pm in the afternoon (fog usually vanishes by the middle of the day). Hope they tweak it a little bit more to make it more realistic or tone it done a bit.
I agree. Its way to much fog over all. They should implement on /off but also make a slider with 1/4 fog, 1/2 fog and 3/4 fog. Problem solved.
that would be nice fog usually accumulates near water sources and in forests and big fields of grass theres tons of places where fog would never exist like aired dry places or after the sun comes up and burns it off like you said by mid day
if the fog was used with more finesse it would feel alot better then they could even add it in with weather effects like a dark and drippy night where fog could come on heavy
im surprised more arent complaining. it’s causing me actual eye strain as well as it just being so white washed.. they added fog to areas and zones it just makes no sense. it’s the entire world
Honestly, right now, this is the shadow quality setting. Lower Quality Shadows = More Fog. For some reason. It’s proportional to the setting. Bump up the quality and you lose a bit more fog.
Walking through Teldrassil with Shadows set to Low is like everything is lit up by floodlights because the fog is so bright and thick. It’s ridiculous.
It’s way too much, and in places that seldom, if ever, would have fog in the real world, or as others have said, it would burn off during the day.
And honestly, most of it doesn’t even look like fog, more like smog.
I’m old, and have had cataract surgery to keep everything from looking foggy!
Maybe Blizzard devs are trying to recreate the smog that hangs over southern CA, where their offices are.
If so, they succeeded…
