For all intents and purposes, you can already play one.
A 6-week “beta” sounds like more like a PTR. If you weren’t wiping characters, I would even say it’s early access.

Valid, but historically no characters from beta have ever carried over to full release/launch.
Probably something that will be answered at launch before a dev confirms. 
They are going to do a wipe. They aren’t giving anyone a 6 week head start to get a bunch of toons to 30 pre-launch.

They will wipe once beta is over. These characters don’t go to live. They never do.

So far the reports are its only “Mostly Live”
I have an “install” button on my Blizzard client, but it is greyed out. Yes, I have purchased the pack through the Blizzard store, and yes, I just double checked it by logging into the retail game and looking at the in-game store page.
They haven’t imprisoned the Naru yet.
Did you purchase the epic or higher pack or just the Skyborne pack? You need at least the epic pack for beta I believe. Guild mate had the same issue and this was the reason.
I’ve been stuck on “Retrieving Server Information” for a long time.
They should have emailed a beta code. Need to paste the code into Redeem a code on the battle.net account. Then you’ll be able to install, I ordered the collectors edition and they emailed me the code.
