Raid Bonus Roll Update

With scheduled weekly maintenance next week (September 1 in this region), we’re implementing a change to raid loot.

  • Bonus Rolls can only be used on encounters where the player is eligible to receive loot.

This means that on each difficulty, once a player has been locked out of receiving loot for the week, defeating a boss a second or subsequent time before the end of the week will not provide an opportunity for the use of a Bonus Roll. While this is a change in loot behavior from Season 1, we feel that it more closely aligns with how loot works in general, and will be healthier for the acquisition of loot overall.

What if you guys just listened to that good ole “player feedback” and made some of the changes we’ve asked for like removing great vault loot from the bonus roll loot table and then this isn’t a problem that needs resources to fix.

what? no… man. no…

What an awful change. Make vault items count for the bonus roll pool and revert this.

People holding coins until they kill ulatek or w/e shouldn’t then have to wait weeks to get those items.

raiding sucks, this season is way worse than season 1

I knew I shouldn’t have refreshed the forum page. Schrödinger’s hotfix.

Yeah that’s not the change to bonus rolls your players have been asking for. Bad change.

I think this is exactly why. They dont want people banking coins and then rolling all myth track ulatek items in a single week.

who does this possibly benefit? this is just an objectively bad change

Lenme guess… RWF was going to split run Heroic enough times to guarantee getting their BiS there to take into Mythic… because changes like this is always because of RWF

This has nothing to do with RWF. Race ends this week so they’re only getting 1 coin and with the whole raid on mythic to choose from there were far better picks than ulatek heroic.

If this doesn’t lead to a diverse m+ meta by the end, it defeats the point. If it does, I’ll take it.

Not entirely opposed.

I see blizz is still doubling down on the concept of once a week looting you do not have agency around and are deliberately made to feel bad if you try to play how/when you want.

They keep showing exactly why I didn’t get midnight; they absolutely refuse to let content stand up on its own and ruin the content/fun trying to control engagement.

Yeah, ignoring all your loot in the vault and taking the bonus loot every week until the season ends is okay.

It’s about control of engagement. They see removing player agency as a valid tool for dragging out engagement, without the realization that it ruins the game.

ie, they don’t understand turning their game into a scheduled FOMO chore is bad. They filter out those who play for fun and wind up with those who keep engaging out of sunk cost fallacy, which sours the playerbase.

…you really just want people to not raid, don’t you?

Are you going to change it so the rolls can only be done once per boss per week in M+ as well, or is this just specifically to say screw you to raiders?

I’m not even a raider, but the hell?

I mean.

Usually loot is dispersed and there’s good loot all throughout, but this time around ya’ll put all the best loot behind one fight in the game. What did you think was going to happen?

Now instead of everyone playing gacha on Ula’tek, now hardly anyone will get the fancy toys. That’s cool, sure I’d love to go through probably the biggest slog of a raid in recent memory multiple times for that one sweet gamba.

They worked like this in most every other expansion they were in. You kill boss for the week, you get to use a bonus roll on it. You did not get to rerolll that boss over and over.

Why are folkls suprised by this?

They really should be interpreting people trying to cheese the rolls as a mandate to rework/remove lockouts and vault overall. We already know that’s not going to happen sadly.

Lol, Lmao even.

So much for listening to player feedback. There seems to be some person in the rewards team who needs to have absolute control on how players choose to get rewards. Always one step forward and ten steps backwards.
