With a hotfix that will go live with scheduled weekly maintenance on August 25, we’re adjusting one item:
Items
Aqirbane Reliquary now grants a smaller quantity of all secondary stats (was a large quantity of only Critical Strike). Its first on-equip effect is unchanged, and its second on-equip effect has been updated to increase a random secondary stat (was only Critical Strike) while decreasing the other three.
Now instead of being critical strike only boon, its a reduced version of the Alchemical chaos flask from TWW.
Makes it more favorable to more specs, so I guess that’s a net positive.
Not that I mind the decision personally, but people are rightfully feeling rugpulled by changes like this. It’s been on the PTR for 7? weeks. People have created guides and countless of guilds have planned around loot of certain bosses, where to bonus roll etc. - all of this is invalidated now on a not even last minute decision but post launch.
Why is this not happening during the PTR cycle? It wasn’t exactly a secret that all recently tuned cantrip effects were … interestingly tuned.
This literally only matters for 2 guilds; so maybe 45 people.
If the rest of you are spreadsheeting loot and this change ruins weeks of planning then you either have a spaghetti code process or are being drama queens.
It will take less time than it took for me to write this post to run the new neck through the simulators and update the guides.
This one matters less for sure, but the addition of the 4th week 1 spark and the nerfs to embellishments that happened for me at 5:30 AM. We as writers for certain specs have absolutely no idea what to recommend for sparks anymore. The semi deterministic nature of coining (And how vaults don’t take from the coin pool) has made gear planning an absolute mess.
These last minute changes are absolutely awful form.
I don’t know of a single HoF guild that doesn’t plan loot at all, that’s just plain wrong. And I entirely agree that it’s overdone on their end but you will not put the genie back into the bottle this way. What was the PTR for? Clearly not for stat tuning.
With this and the mail chest change day of patch, thanks for screwing over resto shamans at the very last minute. Y’all fooled us good and made us think we would actually get optimized stats for once.
The cheat goes from out absolute very best stat to absolute (almost worthless) worst stat
Depends on your secondary weights, I suppose. Specs with extreme crit weight are probably why they’re doing it, if it would just be a ridiculously huge powerspike for them.
Of course, that exposes the underlying issue of secondary tuning being a constant danger to balance. But people who have already planned around “my spec is overpowered if I stack stat X” will scream if their stat balance is objectively improved.
