On Friday at about 12:30 p.m. PDT, we deployed this hotfix:
Fixed a bug that caused the Dance of Midnight Apex talent ranks 2 and 3 to incorrectly increase damage taken. They now decrease damage taken, as intended.
According to Discord, this has been a bug the entire expansion thus far. Lol. Since Dance of Midnight was added to the game and patched in back during the Midnight pre-patch at the end of TWW, this bug has existed. Lol.
…
the talent was actually hotfixed this past Friday afternoon, though the issue became sensationalized across social media over the weekend, after a fix for the issue was first pushed onto the PTR. This hotfix now corrects the behavior on live servers as well, where it should result in a noticeable survivability increase for Blood Death Knights.
Bruh….. a bug THIS MASSIVE making it through basically an entire season is INSANE.
So effectively, any time a blood dk pressed Dancing Rune Weapon, they were, at minimum, taking 24% increased damage…
Between this and Ele shaman missing 5% crit & 25% crit hit damage from their apex talents? (Not to mention dozens of other bugs) It’s high time to just hire a QA team.
This is insanely embarrassing. A whole season of being a “not good”, “not meta” and being forced to reroll for invites because of community perception and a chunk of it was not only bad class tuning, but a bug
it’s sadly all of Blizzard being affected by poor QA. right now in Diablo 4, the charm 5 piece set bonus for earth druid skills is completely broken. On a class with like only 10 primary damaging abilities to build around, at least 3 of the main ones are earth themed skills, and with the broken big 5pc damage bonus on the old mountain set, you effectively can’t play about 1/3 of all Druid builds. It’s been a month since the season launched and they just did a patch today, yet no fix.
The QA at Blizzard isn’t bad. It’s non-existent.
You can thank Mike Yabarra for helping to completely decimate blizzards qa department. What’s worse is that he then started acting like he had no part in it and even went so far as to go “see?! I told you things were bad” not long after leaving.
This also further emphasizes how blizzards talent design is overly complex. requiring us to write simulation programs just to figure out how something “works” instead of presenting something simple and intuitive like classic talent trees. The level of opacity means most players are forced to copy and paste from websites as they have no chance of understanding it on their own, which also means most players have no way of figuring out if a talent is bugged on their own.
So not only has blizzard cut QA, but they have also made the QA job needlessly more complex while simultaneously pushing content out faster. There is no way they can test things holistically under these conditions, something has to give. You need more staff, less complexity or more time, probably all three.
But we all know that won’t happen as each of those require more money.
Great job editing my post and locking it blizzard you absolute cowards. Can’t even handle language insinuating that you’re terrible at your jobs. Joke tier company.
Customer support can spend time literally editing other players posts but they can’t ban blatant boosting, wintrading, RMT, and bots. Outstanding minimum wage job.
