With hotfixes to the PTR that are now deployed, today we’ve made the following updates to healers in Curse of Ula’tek.
Druid
Restoration
Abundance increases critical chance of Regrowth by 60% (was 50%) and reduces cost by 60% (was 50%).
Regrowth healing increased by 25%.
Evoker
Preservation
Developers’ notes: We’d like to reduce Preservation raid healing, as it has eclipsed other healers by a significant margin. At the same time, we’re increasing their triage healing through Verdant Embrace and Living Flame to help them out in dungeons where they are not overperforming.
Dream Breath healing over time reduced by 25%.
Merithra’s Blessing healing reduced by 10%.
Living Flame healing increased by 30%.
Verdant Embrace healing increased by 40%.
Reverberations causes Verdant Embrace to heal for 40% over 8 sec (was 60%).
Class set triggers Living Flame at 100% value (was 150%).
Life Spark increases healing and damage of Living Flame by 100% (was 50%) (does not affect PvP combat).
Monk
Mistweaver
All healing reduced by 8%.
Mastery: Gust of Mist healing increased by 50%.
Paladin
Holy
Holy Shock mana cost decreased by 11%.
Holy Shock healing increased by 50%.
Priest
Discipline
Penance damage and healing increased by 15%.
Grim Deliverance now increases Shadow Mend healing by 40% (was 30%) and increases its cast time by 0.3 seconds (was 0.5 seconds).
Atonement healing falls off more sharply when healing more than 5 targets.
Developers’ notes: For example, when healing exactly 10 targets, Atonement healing would be 7% less effective than it was before.
Void Shield absorption reduced by 10%.
Holy
Prayer of Mending healing increased by 20%.
Oracle: Prompt Prognosis healing increased by 30%.
The existence of talents like Amplified Rush and Resplendent Mist means that if you buff gust enough to make it a thing people build for, it inevitably becomes an RNG casino style spec where sometimes your gust hits for like 25k (or now I guess 30-40k) and sometimes hits for 250k+ (probably over 300 now).
I think if you want gust to be a thing you need to change resplendent mist to be more reliable in some way like making the proc chance scale up when healing lower health targets or something.
edit: quick check on PTR at 333 ilvl shows ~36k normal gust, ~74k RM with no procs going up to 331k on a crit + resplendent proc on RM cast
Thats nice, was a little worried about mana in raids but with this and the 4 set getting more reliable triggers i think itll be alright (shorter duration rejuv still feel bad to play with though).
If we’re going back and flat buffing regrowth that much instead of spreading it across all our hots i am a little worried about the expected burst/triage damage of this season in keys.
Hey Kaivax, thank you for posting these. I know Shaman got a few changes the other day, but the spec is far from being in an optimal state.
Can we get some attention to the mastery? It has been criminally undertuned for almost 15 years now. I’m actually a bit angry that you’ve felt that MW monks deserved a mastery treatment before us.
One button spec: Our whole raid build revolves around only pressing Chain Heal, or buffs to Chain Heal. HW needs to heal even more than latest buff, or cost way less mana to make it a button you want to press in raid.
Unleash Life in 12.1: Unleash, and it’s buff talent Earthen Accord, are so poorly tuned that you don’t want the ability without current tier’s tierset, making it two completely dead talent nodes in a tree filled with mediocore choices.
Raid mana. With PTR having fixed the Water shield bug, our mana is back to being not-good-enough for mythic raiding; Our throughput is OK on PTR but we can’t sustain mana, unlike other specs who can barely go OOM if they try.
TL;DR:
Focus on our mastery - Maybe give full effect at 35% hp? 50%? lower amount of mastery points per % to compensate. Modernise it. It doesn’t belong in modern WoW with current design.
Find a way to make riptide, unleash life and healing wave relevant. The spells are bad currently, especially the first two. Spec power is way to much based in Chain Heal and Deeply-Rooted-Elements, it’s keeping the spec in a design chokehold.
Buff Resurgence to 11.x values. We are the lowest throughput healer currently in 12.0, and that’s with infinite mana bug. It’s not gonna be pretty in 12.1 when we return to having the worst mana economy of all healers.
EDIT: 12.1 gear drops basically doesn’t have any versatility on them, which is bad for us since our spec is balanced so poorly that Verse is our 2nd best secondary. We are one of two specs left in the game who wants Verse as a top 2 stat. Unacceptable.
Farseer resto shaman hasn’t been mentioned once this entire PTR despite being maybe the least played hero talent spec. What happened to bringing up underplayed hero talents?
Hey can you guys just announce yall are deleting RShaman so the 5 of us left (in raid) can quit the game? I’m not saying that to be a meaniepoopoo head, I’m genuinely asking the “healer” “dev” that totally exists to do something about the spec that quite literally does nothing.
I just want to know do you guys have any idea how bad the spec is, or are you just going off of the “memory” of this spec and thinks its “ok", but thats just wrong.
Some work for this spec looking at it specifically for raid would be nice, instead of JUST M+ angle would be cool
Why does Rshaman still have a mastery thats old enough to have a literal **freaking**(Edit1) drivers license? Does the “dev” even know what mastery for RShaman does?
IOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNN, BRING BACK CHAIN HARVEST+LEGENDARY, AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!
Given that there’s already a mechanism built in to rewind for outside of raid what is the logic in not leveraging it for the other talents for M+ ? The spec is already at a competitive disadvantage having only 30 yd range this will further limit the likelihood of being considered viable for healing. The tuning philosophy towards raid vs. M+ lacks consistency.
Perhaps there could be consideration in building preservation range out to 40 yard casts to compensate for the hard nerf where it will be impacted the most
If you want gust of mists to be good.. make it proc all fistweave heals. And make it add damage so fistweavers don’t nerf their healing by losing damage to healing conversion.
