With weekly maintenance today, the caps on upgrade crests have been removed.
This and other changes will appear in the Hotfixes Update later today.

If you’re running 12s you were hitting crest cap before even filling the 3 vault slots. That’s not grindy at all.

No. What they do is make things purposefully restricted/bad so when they change it to the way it should have been from the beginning people shower them with adulation. They have done it so many times at this point it is painfully obvious they do this on purpose. Do not fall for their trap.

The majority of players would suffer if crest caps didn’t exist from the beginning. Degenerates would hypergrind the first two weeks and if you weren’t 280 by the end of week 2, good luck getting invites to +10s. The vast majority of players would fall behind and feel gatekept out of content by people who had more time to commit. It’s a necessary evil.

Is this the point where if we’d been farming since the start of the season we’d be done upgrading everything? Cuz i think I only have like 3 or 4 hero slots left and I feel like after reset I would have had enough crests to cap out anyway.

I just wasn’t sure, I wanted to make sure they weren’t simply making upgraded crests not apply to the cap. i.e. champion crests converting to hero crests not applying to the hero cap.

So you get gatekept at week 2 instead of week 4 as it is now, and that is a problem how? Let people be degenerate if they want to. They pay same as everyone else.
