Healing Stream Totem

Can we make this GCD-worthy?

Right now, pressing Healing Stream Totem feels mostly useless. It doesn’t meaningfully impact gameplay and often feels like a wasted GCD.

Suggestions:

  • Increase the healing of the next Healing Surge while inside the totem’s radius

  • Or grant a healing bonus to Earth Shield targets within the radius

It needs a clear, impactful payoff to justify pressing it.


Winds of Al’Akir

Why is this a 2-point talent?

At 2 points, it’s very hard to justify picking it, and most players will skip it entirely.

Suggestion:

  • Reduce it to 1 talent point so it becomes a real choice.

Earth Elemental – Rank 1

The current changes feel bad.

Reducing Earth Elemental to 30 seconds makes Rank 1 effectively useless. If the duration is shortened, the effect should be stronger.

Suggestions:

  • Rank 1:

    • 30-second duration

    • Grant ~10% damage reduction

  • Rank 2:

    • Keep current effects

    • Increase duration to ~45 seconds

This would make both ranks feel meaningful and distinct.


Burrow

Suggestion:

  • Move Burrow to the class tree

  • Replace Nature’s Swiftness instead

Overall Feedback

Overall, Enhancement changes in pre-patch feel good.
Yes, we lost some survivability, but the spec still plays well.

At high rating, ENH currently feels like a solid high-end B-tier PvP spec.
With a few targeted improvements, it could realistically reach A-tier

10% armor added to Brimming with Life would do a lot for Enh/ele passive survivability but not too much where it’s broken or anything. Would just help smooth out our damage intake which is rough in pvp and pve on beta.

Also want Lightning lasso back in the class tree which makes Burrow easier to take in pvp talents. Lightning lasso should not have been moved out, there’s at least 2 empty optional spots on the left side of the class tree right now lol.

Enhance needs the recent raging maelstrom nerf reverted, it’s horrid. Healing surge is no longer instant if you spend 5-9 MSW stacks, it’s only instant at 10. It plays a lot worse. They can nerf healing surge further if they need to but they need to revert the Raging Maelstrom nerf bad.

Totem CDs need to be updated to reflect the loss of Totemic Recall. Poison cleansing totem should be a 1 minute CD, Static Field totem should be a 1 minute cd. Both of these got nerfed largely because we had Totemic Recall and Resto shamans took the capstone that reset 2 totems. Those are both gone so they really should go back and update these totem CDs especially for ele enh.

need my defensive back please besides that enhance is pimping but so squishy. what is up with chain heal on 2nd row. enh and ele dont use this

Yeah the healing nerfs dumpstered enhance. Feels awful now. Healing surge barely moving health bars again, and raging maelstrom made it so you dont want to use it below 10 stacks because Healing Surge is not instant below 10 stacks anymore.

We’ve gotten no survivability compensation at all despite losing and losing more this entire beta cycle. Ancestral guidance in tww, now Stone bulwark and 5% DR from primordial bond in Midnight. We lost a massive amount of utility via Totemic Recall going away because Totems were balanced around that, they did not go back and adjust CDs with Totemic Recalls removal so now we are stuck with Totems balanced around a spell we do not have. PvP talents got even more crowded with Lasso thrown in there.

We dont get a single defensive for free either. Like hunters get wall for free in their class tree, locks get their main passive defensive for free in their class tree. We have to talent into every single defensive. No improvement to Astral Shift at all, should be a 1.5min cd baseline. Just so sad.

EDIT: I see. It’s listed in the ptr patch notes. I really hope this gets reverted before going live.

I find it totally bizarre that Unholy DK gets a 25% damage mitigation with every Death Stike, along with all of their other mitigation tools/easy self healing-but they remove all mitigation from Enhance except for their one long CD 40% damage reduction spell, and then nerf healing surge into the ground. One thing they could do is to make the Surging Currents talent proc on all stormstrikes, rather than just on Tempest-even if they changed it to all 10 maelstrom healing surges (since they’re really pushing maxing out maelstrom) it would be a massive improvement.

Yeah, as a PLD main it feels very odd to me that ret’s self healing is so bad when I can go prot and have the same exact spell heal my entire HP Bar. I’m not asking for the world, but I feel like DPS healing in general is very weak and could probably use a buff across the board.

Ill be real I dont think ret should have that. It does not need its healing to be good in order to survive like enhance did because the devs decided to prune defensives from shaman despite enh/ele already being relatively squishy. The only saving grace for enh was its healing, thats how it lived assuming it didnt get one shot.

Ret has a very very strong set of defensives/utility that somehow did not get touched during the prune. Lay on hands (not affected by dampening btw), Divine Shield, BoP or Spellwarding, Divine protection+Shield of vengeance on a 1 min CD (useable in stuns btw), Blessing of Sanctuary to get healer out of CC, Blessing of freedom+unbound freedom 25s CD root/snare removal that both you and 1 ally gets. All of these are extremely good.

Ret has more than most classes when it comes to utility and even defensives, definitely more than shaman as a whole now that we lost totemic recall. If it was also capable of decent healing that would be very unbalanced.

The reason enh shamans are upset is because the healing we had was our main way of surviving. They pruned Ancestral guidance in tww, Stone bulwark totem+5% DR from having an ele out in Midnight, all we’re left with is a much worse version of earth ele (that now requires 2 points) and Astral shift for defensive Cds. We were dependent on that healing.

Easy there, pal. I realize you’re upset, but there is no need to be “crabs in a bucket” and lash out at others that are agreeing with you.

Several of those defensives you listed for Ret are pvp only, and there is a pretty good chance the Ret used LoH on somebody else. BoP is physical only and thus extremely limited in PVE. Realistically, Ret has has DP on a 1 minute cd, bubble on a long cd, and maybe LoH on a long cd- that’s less defensives than hunters.

Edit to add- you also said that Ret didn’t get pruned, but it did. SoV and DP got combined into one cooldown. So Ret went from 2 one minute cooldowns to a single one minute cooldown.

Before I respond to anything else I want you to point out how that was lashing out at others? I didn’t attack the guy or anything I just disagreed. I was disagreeing with the fact that Ret paladins need their healing to be good because objectively they do not with how much they offer defensively. Maybe in PvE but even then they still offer BoP which is huge, immunity, Sac which is huge, Freedom (niche) and Lay on Hands. Having Sov and DP combined is fine, just makes your 1 min CD stronger than it was before. Its also useable in cc.

But either way, I’m not gonna argue much about what rets need or dont need. Thats up to the rets to figure out

None of these changes would have any significant impact, we resto a don’t want to make natures swiftness a PvP talent, also 2.4k isn’t high rated PvP specially in solo shuffle, specially in pre season, it’s more akin to 1300 cr in an actual season

Natures swiftness is useless for enhance in almost every situation imaginable. We need an actual choice. I still am not too keen on the concept of a “class tree”, for this reason. I don’t want to spec into chain heal to get access to Earth shield. Make these useless enhancement nodes at least a choice node with something useful.

Stop…very few enhancement make it to 2400 in SS. Also, my question was specifically in reference to Season 1 of midnight. Not prepatch. I know not to judge any metric of this game based of prepatch.

I think all I want for enh and sham in general right now is updates to survivability and a CD reduction to Static field Totem for Enh/ele.

-Astral Shift 1.5m baseline so we can talent into 1m wall or stronger 1.5m wall

-DR added to Earth Shield for the Shaman only

-Bug fix for Raging Maelstrom so that Raging Maelstrom stacks add up when you spend MSW stacks Ie spending 5+5 should be 10 but right now it is not working that way it is just getting replaced again (so 5 is replacing 7 etc).

-Static Field Totem 1 minute CD. This should be lining up with enh/ele CDs, its like our version of death grip+warrior spear combined which is really cool, but they made it a 1.5min CD because resto shamans were using it to capture healers (knock>static+throw static+cap>hex) which is not something ele/enh was doing with Static since we use it differently.

Also maybe some buffs to Stormblast and Lightning bolt. Stormblast damage is so low, would like it to be a bit higher. Lightning Bolt isn’t bad but could use a very small buff if any. Mostly want Stormblast doing more though.
