In Midnight, players can expand their specializations further with new Apex Talents, taking you deeper into the fantasy of your class. Available beginning at level 81, you’ll unlock the first of these and provide your character with an extra boost of power as you take on new challenges.
Will they be permanent or taken away after Midnight? Or just baked as passives post-midnight or as talents?
I think everything stays through TLT but i guess we’ll see
Barely noticeable passives =/= deeper class fantasy
Fun, successful and balanceable stuff is often kept around through talents.
So….. borrowed power.
Ah, yes, everyone’s favorite expression of growth into new echelons of power and mastery:
Passive effects.
Not even good passives, I’d have taken a passive boost to the Dire beast spawning proc%.
Hey, Blizzard. I hate these talents that force players into using abilities that they may not enjoy.
Looking at you Collapsing Star.
My initial gut reaction is that they feel temporary, something that might be absorbed down into the main talent tree or discarded in the next pass of talent redesigns. But I guess time will tell, that’s all a tomorrow problem.
Probably yes to all 3
Rank 3: “You have a chance equal to your critical strike damage of your Fists of Fury by 15% each time it deals damage.”
Huh? What by 15%?

Prolapsing Star is more apt.
If Wowhead is to be believed it should read;
To increase the damage of Fists of Fury by 15% each time it deals damage.
But that raises questions; Where and how is the 15% applied? Is it a Yes/No check once when you start for 15% more per hit? Does each hit get a crit% chance to deal 15% more damage?
yesssssssssssssssssssss exactly! lol what’s going on here D:
Breaking news, the Monk tooltip is broken but nobody would notice because nobody plays Monk.
Affliction will be summoning dreadlords.
There are several spots in the newer talent descriptions where the writer seems to be trying to describe a benefit, but read literally, the text says the talent is a nerf. Stuff like saying you take more damage, rather than inflict it.
Most of the Apex Talents I’ve read aren’t that impressive, in terms of power and/or in terms of fun.
I am seriously going to try out a demo lock build that just ignores Dominion of Argus, especially after the big nerf a couple “balance” passes back.
Of course, if “too many” players reject Apex Talents, Blizz will probably do something to make them directly or effectively mandatory.
Collapsing star is the whole identity of dev, if you don’t like it, just don’t play dev
