In Midnight the transmogrification system has gotten an overhaul to its functionality. Save your favorite looks to Outfit Slots, style multiple outfits, and dress for the moment anywhere your adventures take you in Azeroth.
Let me hide skirts.
Too many tops are held back by being available only on robes.
Since we are paying for slots, like we do with banks, let us add tmogs to slots with zero cost just like we fill up our banks.
Think you could fix the problem with DX12 and the new transmog system? That’d be great. ![]()

We should get 1% Vers buff if we transmog our tabard, shirt, and tunic off.
Whatever happen to saving Gear Set tab on your character window? Do people still use that anymore?
“For every situation unless you’re broke…” - People who don’t know how to make money.
Blizzard, you need to improve icon selection. We need to be able to search by Armor Set and Item Type. Filters should also be added for each armor slot, weapon types, and item type (i.e. all potions or all chests).
If you have a lot of alts, and some are on different servers, it appears that the “character select” screen situation often doesn’t work. Logging into the character and back out can fix it, but for many alts it only fixes it temporarily, and they’ll revert to their clownish mish-mash of random gear the next time you log in to play. Logging into their realm seems like it has something to do with it, but then again, it is inconsistent (if you go to the realm select, and select their realm, it still won’t fix them until you log into the character directly, but leaving to log into another realm, and then being logged off, might spur the bug to reappear).
This has been a known bug for a while with transmog in general, but thought it worth mentioning here since this is a Blizzard post about the new transmog feature, and what is probably the most showcased “situation” for alts (character select screen) works poorly.
how about making MoP legendary capes show their full effects when mogged?
One step forward, two steps backwards.
Also please hire actual UX and UI experts for these types of systems - the interface is god awful.
Why does the new system show all of my characters with mismatched shoulder armor on the character select screen?
This is actually frighteningly accurate. There are lots of full dresses/robes which have top-only or split-version variants, but there are just as many robes that can’t be separated at all, and this is a shame. Some are VERY cool, but I wish I could wear the tops with different bottoms.
I like that the new transmog system allows me to set options for a 2h as well as a 1h/offhand for the same outfit, but could I get the option to transmog a staff into a 1h/offhand and vice versa?
Staves are cool and all, but they’re hidden by some cool cloaks. Often times I will exclusively seek out a dagger, even if it’s a downgrade, just so I can transmog my Xal’atath dagger along with an offhand of my choosing.
Much improved!
I’m happy with the new system but I do hope we get the option for “transmog boot/gloves separately” in the future.
Will it be fully functional in Midnight, or still in the state that it’s in now?
Some people still having issues with faction transfer causing it to fail.
Reports that gold is taken but the outfit doesn’t save to the slot.
No way to re-order the outfit slots (left) or custom sets (right).
Editing and looking through the right-hand custom sets is clunky, it’s like you’re editing an outfit (left) but then have to save on the set (right).
The outfit editor loves to remove weapon enchant illusions on its own.
Some gear is still oddly not mogable, see the Legion artifact issues people still bring up.
And while this is not a bug, it’s a long-time shortcoming of transmog… just PLEASE remove the armor type vs class restriction on which gear’s appearance a character can use. The game is full of murloc onesies and cheerleader outfits, any concept of “class coded appearance” went out the door a long time ago.
It doesn’t really feel like “every situation” when my plate wearers are still stuck trying to podge together a comfy at-home outfit out of whatever plate armor looks kind of a little less plate-y and a handful of pre-made cosmetic sets.
It is beyond time to open up transmog to let players mog any armor type regardless of character class. These restrictions are solely a gaming abstraction that have no grounding in how armor was actually used historically, have no basis in the world lore, and are routinely violated by NPCs from the most generic Orgrimmar grunts to the most iconic lore figures.
Drop the armor type restrictions on transmog.
Can you add the option to hide weapons and make Transmogging pieces of Gear Free finally?
Also cause I was reminded.
Can we have the ability to move sets around in the list?
Can we have a way to search through icons?
Can you go ahead and fix the entire weapon selection UI? Also, let us rearrange outfits in the list and make a dropdown button to manually pick any outfit at any time available in the spellbook.
The weapon section is really, really bad. It’s barely noticable if you’re not already aware of it, and likes to forget to save whatever’s not currently the selected version of the slot when saving a custom outfit. There’s ample space at the bottom of the preview window to just have separate sets of slots for each of a class’s different potential weapon configurations.
And needing to dedicate action bar slots to be able to change an outfit outside of the transmog NPC is just awful. Just add a new tab to the Character UI for saved outfits.
