Now that we’ve got a few days of live player data to work from, we’re looking to reduce the frequency that Devourers need to cast multiple consecutive Consumes, while also adding significantly more power into Reap to ensure it’s a consistent moment of high damage and fits logically into your rotation.
Will deploy the following hotfixes to the live game as soon as they’re ready (in the next 24 hours or so):
Classes
Demon Hunter
Devourer
Consume now generates 1 additional Soul Fragment.
Shattered Souls now has a 4% chance to cause a damaging spell to generate a Soul Fragment (was 8%).
While in combat, Entropy now grants you a Soul Fragment every 12 seconds (was 8 seconds).
Waste Not now causes Void Ray to have a 200% increased chance of generating a Soul Fragment (was 100%).
Reap damage increased by 75%. Does not affect PvP combat.
Consume damage reduced by 30%. Does not affect PvP combat.
Fixed an issue causing Devourer Demon Hunters to sometimes switch to an incorrect voice during Void Metamorphosis.
We hope that these changes will also help provide clearer direction to players who are learning and leveling Devourer Demon Hunters.
People are complaining that consume spam is boring. why reduce soul generation and focus even more on consume? Also increase the healing souls provide, why does it gives 1/10 the healing you get from havoc souls? It is so easy to fix this.
Make Reap also cleave baseline, make meta usable anytime and souls to use only for CS.
Increase the healing soul fragments provide and reduce fury decay during metamorphosis
devourers are still too squishy, lacking in survivability tools the other classes and specs have, especially in open world content.
and you need to plan carefully to get one collapsing star off without the apex talent, forget about multiple.
oh, and forget about even getting that many off with the Souls Glutton talent or if you’re not going full caster build
honestly, the base fury drain as it stands now should be the drain you experience with soul glutton.
either that or metamorphosis needs to give a 200% increase to shattered soul generation
CS feels great when you can get it off.
Just can’t get it off worth a damn RN, and the only reason you can get even one off at 90 is because of the apex talent.
how you are able to get 2 off at all is beyond me.
We’ve seen that a LOT over the years. Classes and specs get designed and redesign around endgame talents, leaving leveling and pre-patch balance in the dirt.
when have they ever added the ability to only wield certain weapon types into one spec?
DH can’t use polearms as a whole RN.
or and 2h weapons for that matter.
I don’t know if they even can give only 1 spec the ability to wield a certain type of weapon.
they’d need to give it to the entire class then somehow limit the other specs ability to wield it, which feels like a massive waste of time and resources for what is, honestly, a non issue
Please make sure to buff eradicate single target component so this change does not require cancel aura for eradicate in single target as it would be doing less damage than reap and consume the souls you would want to use with reap.
At least in M+ during trash, it really isn’t that hard to get 2-3 off per meta. Make sure you Void Ray right before going into meta to have the extra souls on the ground. Helps a lot to run around and pick up souls as you cast consume as well.
