Following the launch of Early Access to Housing with the patch next week, World of Decorcraft: Azeroth’s Next Top Builder is getting underway on Twitch, and there’s still time to apply to be one of the finalists who get to participate and win fabulous prizes.
Specifically, they’re casting 6 Finalists (3 Horde and 3 Alliance players) to compete in a week-long creative journey that will be broadcast to the world … of Warcraft, and also the rest of the world. Here’s everything you need to know:
The Event
Kickoff: Tuesday, December 2, live on Twitch
Build Week: December 3–9
The Finale: Wednesday, December 10, live on Twitch
Hosts and Judges: Hosted by Zepla, featuring Esfand and AnnieFuchsia as co-hosts and judges
The Criteria
Finalists will build out a House in World of Warcraft and show it off.
The judges aren’t just looking for the prettiest house. They’re looking for creativity, resourcefulness, and self-expression.
After the finalists are introduced in the kickoff stream, they’ll build on their own schedule throughout the week, with a mid-week check-in from the hosts, and a big Grand Finale broadcast live on Twitch.
The Loot
Grand Champion: A World of Warcraft: Midnight Physical Collector’s Edition, signed merch from the WoW development team, a housing mug, a holiday sweater, and 1 full year of WoW game time.
2nd Place: A housing mug, a holiday sweater, and 8 months of WoW game time.
3rd Place: A housing mug, a holiday sweater, and 6 months of WoW game time.
All 6 Finalists will receive a World of Warcraft: Midnight Epic Edition code and WoW game time.
This sounds really cool. Except that I cannot participate, because Collector’s Edition pre-orders are punished in one of two ways:
Wait until it is almost release to get our Digital Epic Edition key with our box (why can’t this be sent digitally, and the pre-order be non-refundable if redeemed?)
Buy another digital edition, thereby locking more money to the wallet, that cannot be refunded, because you do not get a refund, you get store credit.
Again, cool idea. Sucks for the die-hardest of fans to not be able to participate, because the way the Diablo IV CE was done (no game key, just physical merch) was not made the new norm.
Meaning the finalists are going to be players who are online all day, otherwise it wouldn’t make for an interesting streaming event if you have a player who only logs in for 2h a night.
From the application it states that they will set up a midweek check up on your build process, and that you only have to be available for voice chat for the streams they will hold
The post used the word finalist like a dozen times, but used it wrong. Finalist implies you compete to be one of a few ppl left standing. You don’t just get chosen to be a finalist.
It says right upfront if you are selected, but dont have access to housing it will be provided for you. They will flip the switch to allow access during the competition.
Not interested. My home design starts as sleek minimalism but ends up as chaotic hoarding. Not a decor style to show off to anyone much less compete.
Just want to be comfortable and cozy. Did enough house decorating in Animal Crossing so kinda tired. Glad to have a new house in WoW tho. Will probaby be mostly bare.
