Play with the Blues: Midnight Pre-Launch Event

Due to new unforseen issues, we’re forced to delay today’s test.

We will reschedule this test for early December.

This Friday, November 21, please join members of the World of Warcraft development team in the Twilight Highlands on the “Midnight Prelaunch Event” realm to playtest the upcoming Midnight pre-launch event, where we’ll learn more about the Twilight’s Blade with the help of Magister Umbric and Grand Magister Rommath.

The experience will begin with the quest “The Cult Within” in Stormwind if you’re Alliance or in Orgrimmar if you’re Horde, and will eventually lead all players to the Twilight Highlands in the Eastern Kingdoms. The event in the Twilight Highlands has a rapid cadence, and should appear in the Event tracker, which you can view by opening your Map and clicking on the Events tab that appears when the map is minimized. (Default Hotkey: M)

Event Details

  • Date: Friday, November 21
  • Start: 11:00 PST (14:00 EST, 20:00 CET)
  • End: 13:00 PST (16:00 EST, 22:00 CET)
  • Realm: Midnight Prelaunch Event
    • The realm will become available when the event begins and will remain open after the event ends for a short period of time for those who still want to test out the pre-launch event.
  • Requirements: Copy a character from the live servers to participate in the test.

Before we begin, please take some time to get familiar with changes made to your class and specialization. There have been some significant changes to talents, hero talents, and core class abilities.

The test is during the work/school day, even on the east coast ,so I’m not sure how much testing will get done… Hopefully it’s enough for things to go smoothly.

When you play through the twilight highlands with the community, I would like you to note all the new and innovative ways you are presenting the quests and dungeons in the expansion.

I love the world, especially the jungle. But, I find myself not wanting to continue 30 mins in. Everything has a been there done that feel.

Will we be able to ask you guys questions regarding the logic behind some of the pruning that people have been vocal about going to far?

You’ll want to use the Beta Client. If this test was open to everyone including those currently not in the Beta Test, Blizzard would have posted this over on the PTR Forum! :wink:

The pre-launch test realm appears under the Test Realm tab on the realm selection screen, not the beta tab. Be sure to copy a character versus just logging in to one that you’ve already copied, as doing the latter will simply throw you onto the beta realm of that character, not the pre-launch test realm.

I’ve never done this before. I picked the test server realm, and now it looks just like my regular load in screen. Do I do more copying?

Yeah, that was the deceptive part. I saw my normal load screen and saw my existing copied characters. When I clicked on one, it showed the retrieving realm screen whilst loading so I knew it wasn’t going to be the pre-launch realm. Copied over a different level80 and it did a straight to load but the world server is down. Unsure if you can copy over a 2nd copy of the same character to the pre-launch realm but I’ll try that now.

I’m going to be honest. This event should’ve been postponed to when after you guys finally discover the source of the beta lag.

Also why is the event at 11am PST on a Monday? It couldn’t be like a Saturday or something?

I’m guessing it’s for the exact reason why you stated. Less possibility of lag from more players being present.

Well, the world server is still down, so there is no event happening anyway (at the moment, at least).

It looks like we’re having unexpected issues with the test realms, and we may not be able to run this test at this time.

We’ll post an additional update here in the next hour.

plz at least update us with additional information as we paid extra to play, and have been met with so much lag that honestly, still not sure why we paid extra for beta access. needs to be some sort of way to reimburse your early access purchasers or something.
