Red Welps Grind Spot (if your interested)

I have been trying some of the popular grind spots out with my mage as I was leveling. I was a 24 at the time specced Frost aoe build.
There are a plethora of Utube vids on places to grind xp and gold.

Red welps seem different to me on the Beta than I have seen in the vids.

  1. They are fewer and farther apart. Gathering more than 2 or 3 to AOE down is really difficult.
  2. They are mixed in with Casters. They can be interrupted, but this also impacts how many you can gather to AOE down.

Just FYI if you plan is to AOE in this area, it MAY not be the panacea that it is depicted as it is on the vids (apparently from private servers I guess?)

In an hour I gained about 33% of a level, and made about 3 gold after I sold everything. Got 3 greens.

The second hour I gained about 25% of a level and made about 3 gold after I sold everything. Got no greens.

Third hour was the same. about 3 gold, 1 green.

I did have skinning as a skill and skinned all of them I killed. I was alone no competition.

I was forced to kill many oozlings too.

Unless I am just doing it completely wrong… The casters really make it difficult.

Your mileage may vary of course.

Trying to scare me away from you’re farming area. I’m on to you!

(Nice info though, thanks for sharing!)

I farmed them for 11 hours back in Vanilla and got 3 pets, one in the first 3 hours, and two in a row at the 11th hour. This was my favorite grind spot as a 29 twink warrior.

Yep, its not for AOE grinding. I remember killing those whelps in vanilla for pets as well as skinning, it took some running between them and every second whelp was caster.

I’d imagine the gnoll or murloc camps would be better for aoe with the density of mobs

You grind these guys for pet drops. That’s the money-maker.

This seems to be a recurring trend. Private Server mobs may have hit harder, but they lacked the diversity of mechanics the real thing had.
