Currency Conversions and Rewards Changes with Patch 5.5.0

Greetings!

As we prepare for the release of the Mists of Pandaria Classic pre-patch on July 1, we want to update you on some of the currency conversions that will take place during maintenance.

With the Patch on July 1

  • Valor points will be converted to Justice points and Conquest points will be converted to Honor points.
  • All Justice and Honor points that exceed the 4000 point caps will be converted to gold at the rate of 35 silver per Honor point and 47 silver per Justice point.
  • Players will no longer be able to earn Valor or Conquest points (bosses will drop Justice; Arenas will be closed).
  • Items formerly purchasable for Valor/Conquest will be available for Justice/Honor.

Obsidian Fragments, Fissure Stone Fragments, and Commendations of Service

  • With Mists of Pandaria Classic pre-patch, vendors will no longer sell Commendation of Service for Fissure Stone Fragments and Obsidian Fragments.
  • Commendation of Service will no longer be redeemable for Justice Points. Players can sell them back to vendors for gold.

With the first weekly reset after the MoP Classic launch the week of July 21

  • Valor can be earned again.
    • For Mists of Pandaria Classic, we have increased the Valor cap, and characters can now earn up to 1600 Valor per week. Likewise, similar to Cataclysm Classic, we have implemented a progressive Valor cap, which will increase by 1600 each week.
      • Developer’s notes: For example, week 1 will have a cap of 1600, and week 2 will have a cap of 3200, and so on. Our intention is to allow easier catch up, if you miss a week of reaching the cap. This will also greatly allow alt characters to catch up.
    • Daily quests, random Scenarios, random Heroic dungeons, and all levels of raiding will reward Valor.
      • Similar to Cataclysm Classic, we have increased the amount of Valor rewarded for these activities.
    • Valor will be used to purchase iLvl 489 gear in Mists of Pandaria Classic.
      • The Klaxxi, Golden Lotus, Shado-Pan, August Celestials factions, and Justice and Valor Quarter Masters at the Niuzao Temple will sell this gear.
      • Valor point gear purchases are still gated behind earning reputation with the associated faction. Some requirements have been lowered or sped up.
  • Once you have collected 1000 Valor on a character on your account, all other characters on that account will have Valor point gains increased by 50% for the remainder of the week.

With the start of PvP Season 11 the week of July 28

  • Conquest will become earnable.
    • There is a cap of 4000 Conquest points. Similar to Cataclysm Classic, we have implemented a progressive cap, which will increase by 4000 each week.
      • Our intention is to allow easier catch up, if you miss a week of reaching the cap. This will also greatly allow alt characters to catch up.
    • Arenas and Battlegrounds reward Conquest.
    • It will be used to purchase iLvl 483 gear from Pandaren battlemasters on the Great Wall.

Please remember that purchasing any item with Honor Points and Justice Points after the patch will require that the purchaser meet the item’s minimum level requirement.

Thank you very much!

Do some reading while you are here. Check out some of the other ongoing conversations.

With pvp gear no longer being penalized for being pvp gear, any competitive raiding guild will be farming conquest points leading up to the release of Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring to fill out any piece that isn’t at least 483 ilvl.

Delay it for at least one more week, more specifically the epic gear, or at least delay it until raid release. With that release schedule you will promote very rough week 1 raiding where people feel forced to do pvp before the raids open (and even after).

*raid

The sprint for MSV power will be minuscule in comparison to the marathon to acquire power for HoF/TOES when they release sometime later.

Please address the previous conversion as well, and fix currency drop from legacy dungeons.

Several legacy dungeons and raids to this day still drop Badges of Justice, Emblems of Triumph, Stone Keeper’s Shards and whatnot.

Please update those to drop current currency and do another conversion like the one made from WotLK to Cata Launch for Legacy Currency

Large W change.

pretty lame that you waited until a week before the patch to post this, i know i and some others bought a bunch of them so that we could buy upgraded heirlooms since they were working as normal on the beta

What happens to existing honor/justice points? Are they just staying for MoP ?

Yes just like always.

Agreed, they should have left this untouched it was a high effort item to grind out

No one is forcing you to do pvp, stop the cope. :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy:

No just everyones guild but ok

man this pvp players keep trolling the forums

Yes i’m trolling because you think you need to do something that in the end you don’t even have to do, It is your choice to do it and its your choice that you decided that you feel like you need to do it.

It is not a choice. Stop trolling. The schedule was not well thought out.

I’m not personally against pvp gear being somewhat relevant early on but the conquest cap being much higher makes this a much bigger advantage which I feel might be too much. (and also makes it a much bigger grind early on)

Moreover with valor getting buff by 50% after 1k on a character this week it might be interesting to do the same for conquest.

It definitely was thought out. Cata pvp was extremely dead, they’ve made adjustments to pvp for mop and they definitely want pve players going in there and trying it out for a week in the hopes they stick around and play longer.

LOL good luck…

Every match is a 1 sided blowout and a waste of time.

What I think they’re going to get is PvE players trying to find the optimal way to grind conquest as quickly as possible, possibly while trying to see what’s the minimum amount of participation they can get away with, then leaving.

It is a choice. You’re not a WF raider and never will be.

Why should PvP players be punished and have their version of the content delayed to cater to PvE players.

How about we delay the raid release instead.
