2 million dps?

Indeed, after a bit of digging this is his gear.

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/k6nhRfGWHqcTMwVN?fight=17&type=summary&source=142

Looks like his primary weapon is missing an enchant, ontop of other things like his chestplate. That could be where he’s lacking dmg?

What I see from your link:

no tier bonuses, S1 or S2.
really bad trinkets
no enchants / wrong enchants
bad itemization
bad cyrce’s gems

and bad spec.

basically all the wrong choices.

For fun, I simmed how much of a gain it is to go from no enchants/gems at all to full gems/enchants, and got about 5% damage using S1 gear.

It’s not much. The vast VAST majority of improvements anyone can make is in the button pushing department. People stress way too much over XYZ stat distributions or consumables.

Cyrce’s gems is another 5%.

And if they would switch to Mountain Thane that alone would be another 20% increase.

Slayer is super behind, and on top of that choosing Odyn’s Fury which got gutted is another big hit to the dps.

this too.

But IMO I think this is a case of just not doing the work of learning where the class is in 11.1

And thinking being top damage in his guilds raids in BFA means anything.

This a million times. I wish I could copy paste it to everyone who asks.

I’m a mid player, I don’t use ‘optimal’ talents but I press my combos and buttons fast.

Are you talking single target or AOE?

Those players often have almost no wasted effort - I waste time on targeting mobs and they have macros for targeting and almost everything else that might take a second or two

the answer is talent synergies cmiiw. press 1 button to deal active damage and even more passive damage

especially when a player has higher latency, the player should pick least amount of active abilities and find more passive synergies

The answer on “why someone does more DPS than me without much more gear” is always:

  1. They are not wasting GCD’s. People doing bad DPS pretty much always have HUGE amounts of space where they’re doing literally nothing.
  2. Once you’ve got into the mindset of “Always be Casting”, they are using those GCD’s better.

Let’s not forget the 10 thousand addons they cheat with telling them what ability to use, where to stand, where to move, what to think, and automating all possible play.

Troll detected

It can go a decent way but will usually give less DPS than someone who knows what they’re doing. (As someone who uses one).

630 is low ilvl atm
. Same boat brother. If my tank pulls big I do big damage. Don’t stress about overall Andy’s. Just have fun

630 is what people had last tier, and 900k DPS wasn’t very good then.

Wow, so many people chiming in and dont really know what theyre talking about. This tells me one thing. Too much simming and not enough playing. Simming your character is OK to get you started. Simming is OK to get a baseline. Playing the game and getting a fluid rotation is THE ONLY WAY to get a good grasp on what your character can actually do. Too much weight being put on sites like Icy Veins and Wowhead is where your problems start. Remember, these are sites that have builds that other people use. Knowing how to play your character and getting into a muscle memory mode is the best way to improve your DPS. Sitting there smacking a target dummy IS NOT the best way to guage how your character will perform in content.

Unfortunately that would be a skill issue. You should be higher than that.
This hunter is a 2mil dps usually at 629. My dk is frost and she averages 1-1.5 mil at 621.

I’d recommend looking at your talents and your rotation.

simming tells you if there is a problem with your stats icy veins and wowhead give you the build and a general guide to rotation priority the rest is playing the game and yes practice on a target dummy does help you learn the rotation
